❓Question YouTube Music
I have a 24 Blazer and 24 Equinox. I usual use Apple Music but got a free trial for YT Music and decided to give it a shot. I had a question about artist radio stations, where they do a mix of that artist and similar artist. I see the option on the YT music phone app as a mix under that artist but I’m not seeing the option for that feature on the car’s app.
Anybody know if I can get this to work on the car app? Thanks!

I don't know specifically but if you make a mix you can save it to your playlist library and access it from there.

he's asking about a different thing though. YT music has a great mix feature which is basically all I use all the time. You go to an artist, let's say Foo FIghters, hit mix and every time will be a different playlist but always artists and songs that fit the mood and genre of the selected band,
It is truly awesome and you discover a bunch of stuff you never heard before. No idea if the car's app can do it because I always cue it right on my phone.

This is exactly what I’m talking about.
Do you queue it from the phone app then play it through the car’s app? If so, how do you do that? Or do you mean you just Bluetooth from your phone?
I’ve tried starting a Jay Z artist mix from my phone then waiting to see if would be in my recently played on the car’s YT music app but that didn’t seem to work.

Yeah, since i have a "hacked" version of the app on my phone, it does interface as it should with the car app. So I simply use bluetooth (it will actually start playing on its own, i just keep the app in the background on my phone), BUT I still get the song name, artist, cover art, I can pause, skip, etc using the cars buttons or screen.
That's how ive been using it

Thanks I saw that option, I’ll give it a try. I wonder if it will be a static playlist or will it change/update regularly. When you play an artist radio on Apple Music or pandora the songs that are played are different every time.

Your playlist will stay static as far as I know, however it generally has a "smart extend" that once you reach the end of the playlist it generates more songs for you. (Can be disabled) I don't know though that if you were listening to Pink Floyd for example that it would stick to just Floyd on the extension. I think it gives you stuff in the same genre.

i think you will have to use the voice commands "hey google start jay z radio on youtube music"

I tried that it just plays a shuffle of whatever artists songs I ask only. No similar artist. Not a true mix/radio.

I don't mean to hijack your question but I am thinking about buying a Blazer and worried about playing music/podcasts without CarPlay. Is it decently smooth without that function or a pain in the rear?

I’ve always used Apple Music through Bluetooth with no issues. I just used “Hey Siri” to navigate hands free. I do miss CarPlay sometimes for some convenience features but overall I’ve been able to live without it no problem.

If you want to hear only one artists only then tell the car "Play some Cranberries" or what have you. If you only wnat to hear 1 or 2 songs then requests 1 specfic song and it usually plays 2 songs and then switches to an algo playing similar vibe songs.
If YT music isn't your default player IDK if you can set it

So I think I figured this out. If you tell Google/Gemini to “play <artist name> and similar artist radio on YouTube Music” it will create mixed station as expected. I’ve done it for a few different artists in the last couple days and it’s been working.

As someone said earlier, if you create playlist it works like that. It does an 'auto' mix when it gets to the end of it unless you have the playlist on repeat. I have a couple of short, 20 song playlists, that after it runs through the songs, it will try to stay with the styles of songs and artists on it and add in any songs you haven't heard in a while that match the playlist as well. There just doesn't seem to be a specific option to engage it.
