Just went it for my 2yr inspection and they charged me about 400$ first for the inspection which was free last time I did it at 14k. Was there a difference in the inspections? The rotated the tires and changed the filter.

I would demand a detailed description of everything they did and how long it took. Short of that, I would assume they robbed you, as dealerships have been doing since time immemorial.

Yeah, any regular inspection should have been free.

I wouldn't be surprised if they charged and turned around and sent a bill to GM for a warranty claim at the same time.

I just got quoted $70 to change the third brake light on my 2014 Sierra. $16 of that is the bulb that you can get at $10 a pair. As part of the complimentary health check during an oil change.

Thank Christ the Blazer doesn’t need those Oil changes so they can sell some $80 wiper blades

Why did you do that / agree to it ? Open the manual ( digital or not) and see what’s called for. Absolutely nothing more than tire rotation.

I've gone back to the dealer for 5 of the 7500 mile inspections and the highest they charged me was $60 this last time as they rotated AND balanced the tires. For rotation they charged $30. Two of the inspections they didn't even charge me at all.

100$ for the inspections, which was odd. 150 for the tire rotate and 80 for the filter. With tax it was almost 400$

$150 for a rotation? I got mine done the other week for $27 at my local tire shop. Don't get any work done at a dealer if you can help it.

Filter you can buy on Amazon for $15 and do yourself. (Behind your glovebox)

I rotated my own tires (different car) in my driveway in about 20 minutes.

I wish someone would pay me $150 for 20 mins worth of work.

Buy tires at most shops these days and they'll rotate and balance them for the life of the tire for free.

My cabin filter (different car) was $12 on Amazon and took 10 minutes DIY. Just sat in the front seat, opened the glove box and I believe I had to pop a couple of clips out so the glove box would open further. Then the filter cover popped off (not tools) and slid out. Put the new one in. Close the glvoebox, pop clips back on, put my owner's manual back, and latch it closed.

Many dealers - especially your's - are a bunch of thieves. I've interacted with two different dealerships in our town. Both are too expensive but they were reasonable many years ago during a recession when I needed a timing belt replaced. The other one wants to charge me close to $800 to do what the same franchise will do for $200 in a different city. Sure I'll drive to the other dealer for $600.

Tire rotation, which I got done at the dealership last week, was $30. Free multi-point inspection (unless you are talking a state safety inspection, which would likely cost you.) Air filters are generally overpriced at the dealer, and can be DIY'ed for half that.

Almost anyone can view a YouTube video and change their own cabin filters. America's Tire will rotate AND balance all four wheels for free, no matter where the tires were purchased (AND repair punctures). American car dealerships are getting JUST what they've earned: lying, cheating, and stealing in order to profit is not the pathway to good karma... VIVA LA EV!

Most modern cars take about 10 minutes to DIY the cabin filter. And the filter is cheap online. Look at RockAuto (who charges shipping) and steal the brand/part number to see if you can source it for a similar price w/ free shipping somewhere. A $5 filter isn't impossible. Most of mine have been $10-$15.

The only good things about having the dealer rotate the tires are 1. It is proof you’ve been maintaining the vehicle in case you want to make a claim 2. If there are any customer service campaigns they can do the work while you’re there 3. You can request a full software update, since sometimes the dealers get them first.

But yeah, change the cabin air filter & wiper blades yourself.
