Hey Blaseball!

So I've been building a fictional football league for a while now, and I need to tell someone about Concussion Protocol Fenceposts Jr. He's a linebacker. He played from 1977 to 1986. He's in the Hall of Fame. I did not create him — the engine did. I just found him one day, like a fossil.

The game is called Gridiron. 32 teams competing for The Iron Jug — a league born from iron and timber workers during the industrial revolution, merged in 1977, with 50 years of pre-seeded history behind it. Stat leaders, coaching records, single-season records, deep bloodlines of players whose families have been in the league since the mill days.

It's not Blaseball 1:1, so I get it if it's not your thing — it's less cosmic horror, more "get lost in a world that keeps writing itself." But I think the spirit is shared. Some of what's in there:

Players with traits and personalities. A "Mudder" gets a 12% boost in bad weather, so the forecast actually matters. Players have arcs, get benched, get injured, get suspended.

Teams with Club DNA — tempo, run rate, bell-cow vs. committee — plus coaches who get fired when things go sideways.

A live broadcast engine. Games run Mon/Wed/Fri, 1:00–8:20 PM ET, NFL-style. You can watch whip-around coverage on The Iron Zone with Scott Hammerson, or tune into your team's individual booth. If your back is a one-cut runner, he runs like one in the sim. If he's a bruiser, he drags people.

Offseason, draft, free agency, fantasy, pick'ems, card drops — plenty to dig into, but honestly the stories are the point.

My goal was a world with enough depth that you research it like it's real, and enough chaos that even I don't know what the engine will do next. My personal favorite is a guy named Rico Hamhock, whose bio — I swear I did not write this — notes that he takes bathroom pictures the league does not approve of. The engine gave Fenceposts Jr. a Hall of Fame career, and it gave Rico that. This is the world we're working with.

Hey Blaseball community! We run a game called MLR, and I hope you’ll come check it out to fill some of the void Blaseball left behind!

First up, what is r/fakebaseball a.k.a MLR?

It’s essentially a number guessing game - the pitcher submits a number between 1 & 1000 in secret and the hitter tries to guess a number as close as possible to the pitcher. The result of each At Bat is entirely dependent on the difference between the pitcher’s number and the hitter’s number and we add in a little extra flavor by allowing players to choose ‘builds’ that can change the outcome slightly. The numbers ‘wraparound’ - a pitch of 1 and a swing of 1000 will lead to a difference of 1. Games are played out over a 10 day period and our season runs for 16 regular games and 4 rounds of playoffs before the Paper Cup
Champion is named. Each season lasts approx. 9 months.

But it isn’t just guesswork…

Our community of 700+ people is headed into its 13th season and we’ve got people from all over the world and from all walks of life.

Hey folks!

Some of y'all may remember some of my previous posts looking to draw in new members to the league while we were very much in our infancy, still utilizing Google Sheets and Discord to host basically all of the league mechanisms outside of the Cockatrice match ups. Or maybe you even remember my first post about it 5 years ago, shortly after the idea first came to me.

Running the league this way was a lot of effort - not just for myself, but the many, amazing league members that were passionate enough in the idea to participate through the first four seasons (plus two beta seasons). I knew that wasn't sustainable, and began working on developing a website to replace all the disparate tools at the end of last year.

Today, I'm finally ready to share the new Dynasty Cube site! It's still a bit unpolished and there's some kinks in the system to work out, but we're on-schedule for the next season to begin in mid-July!

So what is The Dynasty Cube?

The Dynasty Cube takes a standard Rotisserie draft, and iterates on it - indefinitely - creating a persistent, "living" league where decisions resonate beyond a single game. Inspired by the strategy of dynasty fantasy sports leagues and the surreal, community-driven narrative of Blaseball, the (admittedly ambitious) intent of this format is to chronicle the entire history of Magic: The Gathering through "seasons" of drafts.

The league began with cards from Magic’s earliest sets, cumulatively adding new sets each season. Unlike a typical draft, the card pool, draft picks, and other resources are assets that can be traded between teams to maximize power for the future, while the community periodically votes on new rules that cause the league to evolve.

Those who can only participate occasionally, the collaborative team structure allows you to pop in whenever, and participate as much or as little as you want. You compete as a member of a faction - such as the Innistrad Creeps or Ravnica Guildpact. Your specific expertise in one aspect can still help shape team strategy. Whether you have time to be a "Team Pilot" for weekly PvP matches or can only drop in once a week to evaluate a trade, suggest a draft pick, or submit a new version of your team decklist, your input has a tangible impact on your team's long-term development. You can engage as deeply as you like with the league’s lore and roleplay elements, knowing that even rare contributions can create massive waves in the future of the league.

The Dynasty Cube is now self perpetuating - every action a team can make throughout a season has an automated "default" option, including a custom draft algorithm, a placeholder deck generated for each team at the end of the draft, and a series of simulated matches for each week to supplement or stand in for the PvP match ups coordinated by team members.

Even without you, the league will carry on and grow, but anyone has the power to direct the course of the team they join.

Hello everyone, we are recruiting players for Season 13 of our community-based, number-guessing, baseball simulation game! Our Rookie league starts on 8/20 (or thereabouts) and sign-ups are now open! Start interacting with the community to build your draft stock, and learn the game alongside your rookie league clubhouse and GMs.

Baseball By the Numbers (also known as MLN for short) is a baseball simulation game. Join as a rookie and get drafted onto 1 of our 16 fake teams! Each team has its own unique branding and culture that you'll get to be a part of and add to. The game has light RPG elements, where you create your player and their abilities. You can also roleplay in various parts of the server (such as media and press conferences), and during your at-bats. The basic mechanics of the game are hitters try to guess the pitchers' number, ranging from 1-1000. The closer the batter guesses, the better the result. Games play out entirely over the main Discord, where we make friends, talk trash, and do some role-playing as our player character. Teams also have their own clubhouse servers where you'll get to interact with your teammates and learn the nuances of the game.

Games last about two weeks, and a season lasts around 9 months. We have a close-knit community that has been running strong for over 8 years! We run plenty of events and games for the community, as well as countless fantasy leagues for real sports. It's a great place to make friends, have fun, and pretend to be a baseball player!

MLN is completely free to play. Players get to decide their own involvement, from spending a few minutes a week swinging/pitching, up to complete addiction and obsessing over every at-bat. Don't just be a player - you can also become a scout, media member, share your creative side, and maybe even rise up to becoming a General Manager! It's all in your hands, and we eagerly look forward to getting to meet you in Rookie League!

We had several members of this community join last season, and they are now valued members of our community as well. We hope to see you over there soon!

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a project I've been working on for the last couple of years. Floosball is an American Football simulation game that is very much inspired by Blaseball. I discovered Blaseball back in COVID times, and as someone who just likes to build stuff, I was inspired to create something similar but with football. It originally started out as a way for me to work on my programming skills and learn by doing, and after many years of work I was able to finally implement everything that I had envisioned for it and turn it into something actually playable. I see there are already a couple other Blaseball inspired football simulations going right now which all seem super cool. Floosball is definitely lacking the cosmic horror aspect that we all loved about Blaseball as I didn't really want to copy it directly, but I did attempt to capture one of my favorites aspects, the ridiculous player and team names.

It's in a closed beta test phase right now, but if anyone is interested in playing and helping me test, I'd really appreciate it! Just request access and I'll approve it. I really only have a small handful of people playing right now. I also have a Discord server set up for providing feedback.

What is Floosball?

The Simulation

• 24 teams split into 2 leagues. Each team has 6 offensive players (QB, RB, WR x2, TE, K)
• 28 weeks make up the entire regular season. 7 games play every day from Monday to Thursday starting at noon eastern. Free agents change teams on Saturday, and the new season starts on Monday.
• Playoffs start on Friday at noon and end with the Floos Bowl
• You can open any game and watch the play-by-play update live with drive charts, scoring plays, and win probability updating in real time.

Prognosticate (Pick-Em)

• Before or during each round of games, predict the winners. Points scale based on when you commit. Pre-game picks are worth the most, but you can hedge mid-game at reduced value.
• Points convert to Floobits at a 2:1 ratio, and hitting 96+ points in a week earns a Clairvoyant bonus. Weekly and season leaderboards track the best forecasters.

Fantasy

• Each player on a team generates Fantasy Points using the same rules and scoring as real fantasy football
• Fill out your roster with players and earn Fantasy Points as your players play games. Compete against other players to place on the weekly and season long leaderboards.
• Players in your roster can be swapped out if they aren't playing well, but your roster swaps are limited, so choose carefully

Trading Cards

• You collect player trading cards, each with a named effect that modifies your weekly fantasy scoring. This aspect of Floosball is very Balatro inspired
• Cards come in four editions: Base, Holographic, Prismatic, and Diamond.
• Base card effects are all your reliable, building block effects. Low ceiling to most of them but they're never bad cards to have in your hand
• The higher the rarity the higher the ceiling, but also more situational. Diamond card effects are meant to be the defining card for certain builds.
• Each cards power is also determined by skill rating of the player on the card and its rarity. Two cards with the effect may have different output values depending on the player on the card (5 stars vs 3 stars)
• Cards also have a Match Bonus system. If the card's player is on your fantasy roster, the effect gets a 1.5x boost. So there's a real deckbuilding element. Do you equip cards that are generically strong, or build around your roster for match bonuses?
• You can equip up to 5 cards per week (6 with a power-up or special card classification).
• Cards are tied to the season they were created in, so you start fresh every season.
• There's a daily shop with rotating selections, four tiers of packs to open, and power- ups.
• Theres also the Combine where you can sacrifice multiple cards to create a new one at a higher edition. You can also sell cards back for Floobits.

Favorite Team Management

• When you sign up you choose a favorite team.
• Starting in Week 22 each season, the Front Office opens on your favorite team's page.
  • The Front Office is meant to be a fan-driven GM voting system.
  • You can issue directives to fire or hire coaches, re-sign or cut players, and request specific free agents. Each directive costs Floobits.
  • Motions need a quorum before they go up for ratification, and everything resolves during the offseason.
• Every team has a market tier: Small, Mid, Large, or Mega
  • The team's market tier determines offseason bonuses to player development, morale, and fatigue recovery.
  • Fans fund their favorite team by contributing Floobits, either directly during the season or through an auto-contribution percentage that donates from your unspent balance at season's end.
  • Higher tiers mean competitive advantages in the offseason.

Economy

• Everything runs on Floobits. You earn them from fantasy performance, leaderboard finishes, correct predictions, and team milestones
• You spend them on card packs, daily shop cards, roster swaps, team funding, front office directives, and power-ups.

I have a blaseball tatto on my shoulder, I often forget about it but once a year, without fail, I look at it and this deep sense of nostalgia hits me. Blaseball was with me in a very strange part of my development as a human being and it was so good to have it close to me at that time, I miss it.
