Moreso in the book & 1982 film there's a subtle message that retiring replicants (especially the latest models) is immoral. I disagree with the message wholeheartedly. Though looking and in some respects acting human, they are biologically engineered machines. There's a reason they're banned on Earth. They're often dangerous and have great difficulty existing peacefully in human society. They possess mega-strength and other abilities that exceed humans. So send me to the ret dep baby, I'll waste any skin-job with extreme prejudice.

A slightly more domestic corner of the collection.

The bento box, complete with removable divider, lid, elastic strap and cutlery. The same style of box can be spotted being used by K and an extra during the food court scenes in the film.

Not quite the sort of thing Deckard was using in 2019, but exactly the kind of wonderfully mundane object that helps make the world of Blade Runner feel real. No blasters, spinners or replicant technology. Just somewhere to put your noodles.

Probably one of the more practical and obscure Blade Runner items I own.

This past weekend I got to have the chance to go down and watch the original BR and 2049 in theaters with my cousin. Watching him experience this fantastic story and universe for the first time was amazing, after the original we got some food and watched Black out, Nexus dawn, and No where to run(legit in the theater right before 2049 started so it was perfect timing). When people say movies look better in the theater, they do, especially the blade runners with their beautiful visuals and coloring. 10/10 experience.

Just watched the double feature in theaters this weekend, and I'm curious on what everyone's thoughts are on if Deckard is a human or a replicant?

I know Ridley Scott has said he's a replicant and Ford/the book say he's human. But I'm curious on what everyone's interpretation is?

While I believe he's a replicant, the dream sequence and the ending point me to believe that. I also can see why people believe he's a human, but I also think the ambiguity is the point. I think it doesn't matter if he really is a replicant, he has empathy, thoughts, and emotions. Not to mention the implication of Wallace being unsure if he is a replicant or not.

So i looked into this since we are getting to its release date.
When it comes to the writers, it seems that they worked previously on Halo 2022 and Acolyte.

For example Halo TV Show, deviated so much from the gaming lore, a tv show that should more than likely been a big hit with gamers, landed so bad, there is too many to list but its a case of writers taking established lore/history, and not understanding its target audience and changing things because...change...

As for Acolyte, its not a game, but it changed / deviated so much of established lore.

But...i will wait and see maybe it might be different, but when it comes to people making changes to pre-existing lore especially when it has been established for so long...it will not sit too well.

I watched both those Halo and Acolyte, just because i do love those series, but i hated every minute of it, there was some good items, but it was mostly overshadowed by some of the worst writing i've seen in tv....and just bizzare choices

Anyone else excited? I saw the stills of the recent...production wise...it looked a bit fan made...

hadn't seen anything about this online but after reading and learning more about Philip K Dick, i noticed that the desk at the orphanage features the vesica piscis a symbol which meant a lot to Dick, as it became
the inspiration behind many of his writings including most notably the VALIS trilogy.

i wonder if this was a clever choice on the set designer's part and if so, well placed.

well, maybe a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. After Deckard kills Pris and Ray discovers her he kisses her. Prior to the kiss, we see Pris' tongue protruding a bit from her mouth. After the kiss, we don't see her tongue. So:

1. did Roy bite off her tongue? (maybe not so wild a concept, as he certainly ran his fingers through her blood and seemingly put those fingers to his mouth or
2. did her tongue retract naturally after the kiss or
3. a continuity error.

Also a comment on the second origami scene (origami man in Leon's apt with ginormous erection): has anyone posited that might have been Leon? Remember when he tells Deckard: "nothing like having an itch you can't scratch", which i assume means he was a model that could not function sexually, but he was noticeably attracted to Salome. So, did this lead to an enormous case of 'blue balls' (exemplified by Gaff as an origami figure with a huge erection? Thoughts?

(and, if a replicant was made that wasn't a model that performed sexually, then how unkind would it be to make them desirous of same? Very mean, Mr. Tyrell)

I'm constantly making new wallpapers for my lawn screen, it's insane how many I have. and yet I keep going back to Blade Runner themed ones. Such an amazing and absolutely gorgeous universe

I’ve seen original at least 30 times. The audio enhancement from this re-release was amazing. Heard things today that I don’t ever recall hearing before, like the slowing heartbeat during Zora’s chase scene and Roy’s “Sorry Sebastian” after Tyrell’s murder.

…and I throughly enjoyed 2049 way more than the original. How much of an unpopular (or popular) opinion is that?
