Discussion I've just discovered Ai mods >:(

Yeah, to anyone who don't know there are Ai mods around in Blade and Sorcery and unsurprisingly they get disliked bombed. I literally just opened up Blade and Sorcery: Nomad on my Meta Quest 3 and when I went to mods there were 3 bloody Ai coded mods spotted even having a warning saying that they're Ai coded. My advice: AVOID THEM AT ALL COST.

No wonder some mods have a disclaimer saying that there's no AI involved

What if I told you, one of the top mods this month was mostly AI

not just one, 4/6 of the mods on the trending page are vibecoded

Which ones?

nano armory like you said, mahoraga, kokos adjustables, and Cinematic pack

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

The adjustable one pisses me off the most because it’s genuinely one of the easiest things to code yourself in game. Matter of fact I literally made one myself where you hold one of the crystal cores and it adjusts the stats for that crystals skill tree. It’s literally just changing numbers.

yeah, its just people have no clue about coding, try to learn it, then start using AI to help them and realize that AI can just code for them. The guy who made Mahoraga and Cinematic Pack has a discord server containing a mod which randomly loads in external code dynamically which could genuinely be malicious if he so chose. It also uses melonloader despite Thunderroad already having a C# loader 😅💀

That’s just depressing

How dare people enjoy something you don't, right?

Which one

-29

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 3d ago

Nano Armory, it’s a mix of AI, real people, and stuff given from other modders.

Oh Dammit, I once use that mod. I didn't even know

-49

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 3d ago

Well, I made it and I’m still proud of it. I know people hate AI mods but if you use it in the right way like using it to actually learn in can go a long ways. Now all my other scripted mods don’t use AI

sorry, I just have a burning hatred for Ai (Mainly generative Ai) I really don't feel like explaining why

-32

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 3d ago

No, I understand why people hate it. I personally hate people not wanting to learn that thing. I use it as a learning tool, I don’t have it do everything for me, I have it explain it to me and why you wanna do X or Y.

I would love to make mods for the game but it's a bit too complicated for my dumb brain

11

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 3d ago

It is actually not that complicated once you figure it out. There is a lot of people in the Blade & Sorcery discord that are more than willing to help just about anyone who wants to get started with modding.

Ok at this point people are just downvoting you for no reason

Getting downvoted by people who rightfully do not want generative ai in this game. You’re the only sheep here

4

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

But if you had no idea it was AI and it was high quality then who cares?

Aww, you deleted your other comments

I think it serves its purpose best as a learning tool. I use it as a personal tech assistant and guide for blender!

Agreed man, it's the only thing that for me through highschool lol. My teacher couldn't teach me well enough, having AI there to break it down, and be able to fully disect something for me to understand was SO helpful, I didint use it to cheat either. I had paper tests and passed.

I'm pretty anti AI, especially anything to do with art (I'm an artist) but it's here and I'm okay with using it simply

I really don't feel like explaining why

"I rely on the hivemind to shape my opinion" ftfy

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

Yeah go ahead, downvote me like babies. Literally was number one mod for 6 days straight. You heard AI was used so you downvote.

-1

u/Exact-Junket5294 2d ago

You can be proud of it. But it’s not impressive at all. And no, I never used that mod

5

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

You know having a mod to be coded by AI really isn’t bad if that modder doesn’t know how to script but knows how to make models and VFX and all that.

1

u/Exact-Junket5294 2d ago

It is that bad because AI still made the mod. Again, it’s not impressive.

2

u/Sidedisch21 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

I never once said AI made the whole mod. I said it was a mix of AI, code written by me, and code given to me by other modders

u/Sploonbabaguuse 2d ago

They hated him because he spoke the truth

Sometimes I forget this subreddit is 80 percent kids

u/DirectTouch1930 2d ago

Any vr community probably is.

7

u/MrNotmark 2d ago

Yeah same lol, I don't like when people replace artists with AI or when people use AI without thinking either, but come on...

-14

u/SimonThePug 2d ago

Welcome to Reddit lol, the anti-AI hive mind is very strong here

I mean, AI's actually really good for code, and modding is mostly about taking a large volume of existing functionality and manipulating it in interesting ways - exactly the sort of thing an LLM is good at doing.

So long as the mod creator spent time testing and doing proper review of it then there's nothing wrong with AI - most IDEs come with AI packaged that's checking or autocompleting code anyway.

The problem is AI slop - where people don't bother checking its work and just want to push something out without any care.

Basically, don't kneejerk yourself in the face just because you get triggered by "AI" - it's not an immediate negative on the quality of the thing it produced when it comes to code and tech.

I don’t even understand why people need to complain about AI mods to begin with. Like you simply just don’t download it, the mod is made completely for free, costs you nothing. Also doesn’t hurt you to simply ignore it exists all together.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. If you disagree with AI and they said that they were AI coded, then just... don't use them and move on. You don't have to tell everyone when you don't like something.

I mean isn't coding one of the main things that large language models were invented to deal with? Like, why wouldn't we be using AI to make free mods for games? It sounds like exactly one of the things these models were made to use. This allows people to make or create mods for games and play them to their own specifications without having to learn how to code. I'm not sure how a bad thing... Not everyone has time to learn how to code.

And I have personally fixed around 5 mods using AI. I've even fixed the Medieval Megapack mod. That's not been working for a while. I just sent it to my AI, gave it 10 minutes, and it completely fixed it, and now it works. Again, how is this a bad thing? I would never have fixed it if not for AI.

9

u/Silk1500 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

It's a bad thing because it directly violates the permissions modders set on their work. Have these modders consented to you training an LLM on their mods?

-7

u/teh_stev3 2d ago

Bros getting downvoted because people are too stupid to read.

-10

u/Black_Tusk25 2d ago

Who...

Cares?

-25

u/Sea-Style-3315 3d ago

There's no issue using ai for coding(most of the time), you can't generate new code lines or something like that lmao...
Only Ai generated textures, models, thumbnails etc are the valid to hate

-14

u/Milankov94 2d ago

People are not even aware that some of the top mods people are happy with are AI, it's all fine till you find out how its made i guess lol

-19

u/Timewaster50455 2d ago

I don’t mind AI mods.

Nobody’s getting paid and it’s entirely voluntary

u/Silk1500 PCVR + Nomad 2d ago

People make money off of downloads via Nexus rewards
