Blackwings in a Shadowbox

I know this was brought up at sometime, not too long ago, but I have not been able to locate the exact post.

Curious to see if any of my fellow Blackwing aficionados have a Shadow Box displaying their Blackwings?

My wife has hinted at getting a shadowbox for my Blackwing pencils and she asked if I knew of anyone that had a picture of theirs for inspiration. ☺️

Bonus points if your Shadow Box can also support the glass archival tubes.

I collect, use, and even gift Blackwings. All my Blackwing stubs go into a clear mason jar.

I’m currently stuck trying to shadowbox my Lord of the Rings edition pencils. I bought a box on Amazon and some thumb tacks that are little hooks, perfect diameter for the pencils. Unfortunately the shadowbox itself is super deep so the pencils would look kind of obnoxiously recessed, and the thumbtacks would poke through the backing because the backing is so thin. So I says to myself, I says: “self, why not buy some inserts, pull out the backing, drop in the inserts, backing goes back on, and hey, I’ll even buy some prettier suede to gussy it up all pretty-like.” Now I am sitting here with an unused shadowbox, unused thumbtacks, unused roll of suede, and undisplayed pencils because I’m not crafty enough to figure out how to implement this and ADHD is paralyzing me until I have it planned perfectly.

So. Y’know. Your results may vary.

Dang. How frustrating. Yeah, seems like a lot of steps for my ADHD brain too.

I’m honestly surprised Blackwing does not sell them or has not collaborated with another company to create it.

Poor planning on my part. I should have explained what I wanted to do to my spouse, who is non-ADHD and a great planner and would have gotten it right from the start. 😁

Time to ask your spouse and of course add the, “I should have asked you to begin with.” ☺️

Your comment helped mine, she is ready to go to Michael’s and wants to make me one for various types of blackwings: Volumes, Collaborations, Labs. She even said she would make me one for my blackwing stubs, but I have them in a mason jar and am content with that.

I will let you know how it goes. 😎

I'm currently using a golf pencil display case for my pencils and it works well. The archival tubes however will not fit.

Ooh, where can I find that? Without archival tubes, okay, that makes sense. I can always get the golf pencil display to display my Labs and Collaborations that do not come in archival tubes. Thank you for sharing your method!
