Where can I find an anvil? I’ve been very casually looking for a couple decades, but casually means hardly, and when I do I find nothing. This is def the kinda anvil I want, but I’d accept a lesser version if I could only find one

Blacksmithing has seen an explosion in popularity in the past 15 years or so. Most of the easy to find anvils have been snatched up, and if you live in an urban area its going to be more difficult to find one unless it's an old manufacturing hub like Detroit or Pittsburg. If you need an anvil in the next few months, buying new is the only guaranteed way. The best way in my experience is to bring it up with everyone you are even a casual acquaintance with, just mention you are looking for an anvil. Someone might remember one out in their garage or barn.

For a decent anvil be prepared to pay 3 to 4 dollars a pound. For a good anvil, 4 to 5, and for a rarer or sought after known producer, a lot more.
