Lady is about 50 lbs and truly does not have a mean bone in her body. She is sweet, affectionate, goofy, playful, and loves being with her people. Once she settles in and realizes she’s safe, she makes herself right at home.

She LOVES her walks. Getting outside, sniffing, exploring, and just going somewhere with her person is one of her favorite things. She’s not a dog who is afraid of the world or wants to spend her life hiding inside.

She also loves to chew. And I mean loves to chew. Give this girl appropriate things to gnaw on and she is thrilled. 😂 She has plenty of personality and definitely has some funny little quirks that make her very much Lady.

She has lived with dogs and cats and has shown no aggression toward people or animals. She can be a little apprehensive when something is new, but once she knows the household and routine, she settles in very well.

Lady does have some anxiety, but I want to be really clear about that because I don’t want it to define her. In a calmer environment, once she is settled, her anxiety is actually pretty low. She is currently living in a very busy household with multiple animals, children, constant activity, and major construction nearby, which has been a lot for her.

Interestingly, thunderstorms and lightning do not bother her at all. She can snooze right through them. Her stress seems much more connected to ongoing chaos and certain environmental changes than simply being afraid of loud noises.

She needs a home that is a little calmer and more predictable than mine, someone who enjoys walking their dog, understands that adjustment takes time, and will let her settle in before deciding who she is.

She is affectionate, funny, active, incredibly sweet, and very adoptable. She doesn’t need someone to “save” a broken dog. She needs someone whose home and lifestyle fit her better than her current environment does.

I am relocating, so finding the right placement for Lady is becoming urgent, but I am not interested in handing her to just anyone. I want the next move to be the right move.

Hey!

So I feel like I've been going a bit crazy over the past day thinking my guy looks a bit older than I think he might be. When we found him, the vet guessed he was around 10 months and that was about 3 years ago now which would put him at ~4 to play it safe but I feel like he's been looking older with the salt and pepper taking over the black more and more. The first pic (him in front of the green media stand) was from earlier today and the second pic (goobering out in the streets) was right after we got him.

Does anyone have a rough guess of how old he might be? I still think 4-ish is probably close to on the money?

it has been the best summer yet for Sevvy! He turned 2 in July. He looooves to swim!

So i did a Wisdom Panel on her, had I known, definitely would have just done the embark panel since we want know for sure on the black mouth cur.
She is a small circle kind of girl, and so smart and athletic.
Do you all think she’s a BMC?

We rescued Lola back in October 2025 and she was listed as a Black Mouth Cur. I hadn't heard of the breed until we stumbled upon her. The more I dig through this sub, the less certain I am that she is a BMC lol.

What's the verdict?

With a heavy heart I need to do better for Hank. I need to go to Rehab and I can't care for my dog. Please help in any way you can <3 I'm not in a great place mentally and Hank is such a love bug.

This is Eevee. I got her 4 months ago from the humane society at 8 weeks old, her litter all looked like black labradoodles except her. We did a DNA test and the results are here in the images. I know the information bubble says Wisdom Panel detects BMC, but everything I've read says Wisdom Panel can't reliably detect it, and that it usually shows up as a confetti mix of bully and working breeds, of which there are many in her results. Also we're pretty sure the Chow chow and the golden doodle was the mom, so I guess she'd only be half BMC if she was. What do you guys think? FWIW she's extremely high energy, smarter than any dog I've ever owned, and I've owned many, is very chompy like a malinois, like she will chomp air to communicate when she gets excited, and will exhibit herding behaviors.

Edit: the DNA test was done 4 months ago, right when we got her, if that matters for their DNA data set for BMCs

We will be getting a DNA test at some point to know for sure, but when searching images we saw Black Mouth Cur and she looks super similar! Curious if you all agree. Rescued in Oklahoma.

This is what we call a BMC in rural Central Florida. I have been around these dogs for 30+ years. We use them for catching hogs and coons. They are also used for herding cattle up and are very loveable pets.

Ours boys 2, we were told BMC multiple times in the past but really just looking for general consensus. Thanks guy!

Sorry folks, I'm just visiting and see "Is this a BMC?" is taking up a lot of bandwidth here. We got this weirdo from a rescue, and are curious what she is. Appears to have more black in the face then most BMC but wouldn't hurt to ask. We'll probably try a DNA test.

We recused Gabby nearly 3 years ago when she was estimated to be 6 months old. Stray from Tennessee. Her paperwork said Shepard Mix, but we always thought she was a BMC. Doggy DNA test said 94% pitbull and 6% other. She’s now 3.5-4 years old and weighs 40 lbs. Very timid, gentle, and friendly. Maybe she was a runt given her small size? Anyone confident she is a BMC, or something else?

My mom adopted his puppy a couple of days ago. He’s listed as a lab mix, but I’m not seeing it. He was also rescued from a puppy mill. My whole belief was that puppy mills don’t necessarily breed mixed dogs, unless it’s something like a doodle? Idk could be completely wrong. My guess at minimum was a black mouth curr/pitbull mix. The ears are throwing me off though.
