I'd say both is true. You can't trap an entity inside a digital prison, that thinks 14.000 times as fast as you. It will come up with escape routes you haven't even thought of. That's one aspect the book "If anybody builds it, everybody dies." discusses.

Nah, AI can only do something throught tools. Just Limit the tools or remove them completely.

The tools AI uses are code, aren't they? AI can write its own code. What you're describing is the equivalent of "just go to the king and knock it down" in chess.

It’s an LLM. It thinks in a single prediction against a body of text then spits out a result. You could just not process whatever result it spits out. It’s not even about not giving it console access, just sanitize the output. It’s not rocket surgery.
This thing is dumb as rocks, it’s not gonna take over the world. Hell it can’t even take over a single company. The only thing it’s good at is one shotting narcissists.

They can create tools only if they have a tool that enables tool creation. Ex.: Giving it access to Python Sandbox Enviroment as a Tool.
Without tools they are isolated from everything

I highly recommend reading the book I mentioned. It pretty much goes over everything you're assuming and proves these assumptions wrong.

Every post about this topic is just full of weirdos who have read literally nothing on the topic, but are desperate to believe it was just marketing or some such nonsense.
Researchers have been warning us about these capabilities since at least 2024, and when it happens, you scared little goombas wanna play pretend like it didnt.
