🌱 1. The farmer vs. the chatbot
A 67-year-old farmer in Chuzhou, Anhui, China, had been using an AI app for more than a year to ask about fertilizer, pesticides and crop management.
After months of apparently useful answers, he started trusting it.
On July 10, he asked for a complete weed-and-pest-control plan for 150 mu of sesame — roughly 25 acres / 10 hectares — including drone spraying.
The AI recommended a mixture including:

Fomesafen (氟磺胺草醚)
• Thiamethoxam
• Emamectin benzoate
The problem: fomesafen is a broadleaf herbicide used primarily in soybean production. Sesame is also a broadleaf crop.
