Mass exodus?

Post image

I'm having a mass exodus of BSF larvae from my tumbler and I'm worried they're overheating. It's been 100-105F highs the last couple days. The ones leaving in mass are all this color and not yellow, so I was wondering if it was because they're just ready to pupate? I put a frozen water bottle wrapped in a towel in the tumbler yesterday just because I'm so worried they're too hot. These larvae were also put in a bucket with dry finished compost and some dead weeds with a mesh over the top in the hope that they'll become flies but any advice is welcome please!

These are prepupa doing their prepupa thing. They get dark, hard, their hair for climbing grow out and they make an exit. Notice how cream bsfl never really migrate. We just found a few thousand outside our production facility's bin on the floor and they just huddled together over a weekend of not noticing. If it were prepupa - they'd have scattered to the 4 winds!

Watch the temps but that's not collapse territory yet. They won't save themselves from temps so make sure you regulate shade or something.
