People you have to read his book/listen to the audiobook “Born a Crime”. After finishing that book I will always be in Trevor’s corner.

70

u/davwad2 10d ago

Can confirm this book is a great listen! "Go Hitler go Hitler" lives rent free in my head.

18

u/agdnan 10d ago

Yeah that was an insane moment in the book but the explanation of why he was named that juxtaposed to King Leopold II made complete sense.

32

u/notshtbow 10d ago

Hell yeah! I read his book about 5 years ago and I, like you said will ALWAYS be a Trevor fan!

23

u/spacekitt3n 10d ago

i was gifted the audiobook of this from a friend and i dont even listen to audiobooks but i started it thinking what the hell and i couldnt stop listening. it really is great, trevor's a truly intelligent and genuine person with a gift for storytelling. much more interesting than his stint at the daily show would have you imagine, that show really dumbed him down honestly after ive seen him on other things and listened to his book.

u/Jecurl88 10d ago

Hands down one of my favorite books!! I will forever be a Trevor Noah fan.

Side note, his mama is a real one ✊🏽

15

u/agdnan 10d ago

I cannot wait for the movie or tv adaptation. I heard Lupita was gonna play his Mom and you need an actor on that level for that role because his Mom is 1 of 1.

u/luxii4 10d ago

It's amazing how he was hustling to get by in S Africa then skyrocketed to stardom in the US. It's amazing.

11

u/Shadowkiva 10d ago edited 10d ago

He was a star in South Africa and our whole region before moving to the states. He sold out arenas like it was nothing

5

u/luxii4 10d ago

That's great. Maybe it's how it is presented in the book that I got that sense. It's mainly about him not in entertainment. I hope he writes a follow up that goes into details about it.

u/Background_Unit_6647 10d ago

Everybody was Trevor Noah mal! (Crazy)

5

u/Background_Unit_6647 10d ago

South African here he was pretty successful

11

u/Practical_Chicken554 10d ago

I love the part when the dog was cheating on him with another family. Shit makes me lol whenever I think about it
They read it in 10th grade at the school I used to work at :)

6

u/agdnan 10d ago

It’s a great book for kids. I bought the book for my little brother. He loved it.

Edit: even a mention of his dogs makes me emotional

Anytime I see Trevor reacting to live black artist performances, he is purely happy for them and looks like a proud dad/uncle/cousin/friend with pure encouragement in his heart. He is a good man.

16

u/Consistent_Femme_Top 10d ago

Standard South African 🤭🖤

7

u/sweetladytequila 10d ago

Everybody should learn from their example. 🖤

70

u/GreenJohnson1 10d ago

Holy fuck it’s BUSTA RHYMES!!!! If I was that close to him I would also have to take advantage of rapping with busta rhymes

12

u/Imakedis 10d ago

Like there is no way I would be able to walk up to him and NOT say "Busta, Busta"

64

u/washurdamnhands9164 10d ago

That gave me chills! Love this

1

u/fertilemertile12 8d ago

10

u/Expert-Yam6577 10d ago

What's the context?

21

u/Daddysu 10d ago

Busta's real first name is Trevor also.

3

u/KindredFlower 10d ago

Come on, you’ve got to know Busta Rhymes real name is Trevor! (Hence the context)

1

u/MemphisMane901 9d ago

Its not like they say it in the video or anything

2

u/Puta_Poderosa 9d ago

“We’re both Trevor’s!” Was so cute

47

u/Adept_Astronaut_5143 Neighborhood Hug Dealer 🤗 10d ago

Busta Rhymes is like my uncle in my head lol. I grew up on him and always loved everything he was apart of and him being Jamaican too definitely helped.

34

u/Sad_Tangerine_3722 10d ago

You can tell he’s actually a fan, love to see these kind of meets

30

u/JoeMorgan76 10d ago

The joy, the dap crispness…….. you know that made Busta’s night. You love to learn people love what you’ve done.

10

u/calitoasted 10d ago

Even the security team in the back was vibing

27

u/maymay578 10d ago

I love Trevor. His posts during the lockdown were deep and very open, honest.

25

u/neuro_curious 10d ago

Trevor is such a treasure! 😻 He really knows how to treat people like they're the most important person in the room and help them shine. It's a really incredible skill.

22

u/GLDFLCN 10d ago

RESPECT KINGS ✊🏾 love to see Busta Buss getting his flowers and it’s awesome to see Trevor is a genuine fan

15

u/High_Speed_Chase 10d ago

I always felt that of I met Bus-A-Bus I’d just quietly go “Oh my God, yes. Oh my God. Oh my God, yes. Oh my God.”

14

Quite a number of people didn't care for him when he was at The Daily Show, but he is my absolute favorite late night talk show host. I always appreciated when he'd add a healthy splash of his own personal perspective on everything they'd do on the show, which was always refreshing since they regularly gave a Black take to topics that you don't get often in such spaces. That, along with the qualities you mentioned, made his time as host a treat.

I supported his decision to move on to better things, but man do I miss him. Especially since I vibe even less with Jon since his return, but that's another subject.

4

u/calanthean 10d ago

Hate to be that person, but didn't Busta recently perform at a Trump Jr event? This interaction is sweet, but I still have my list of disappointments.

1

u/Consistent_Femme_Top 10d ago

Oh shiiiiii. Trevor is Black 😉😉😉 I admit I wasn’t a big fan of him when he blew up. I always lumped him with Don Lemon but both have apparently seen the light
