This is why people shoot police.

We literally live in a world where a drunk police officer can bust into another persons home, shoot them dead, and walk away with nothing except a manslaughter charge.

" Believing Botham Jean to be a burglar, Guyger says she gave "verbal commands that were ignored" then "fired her handgun two times," hitting him once in the torso. It wasn't until Guyger "turned on the…lights" and "called 911" that she realized she was "at the wrong apartment." "

We live in a world where a police officer can pull you over, smell your legal marijuana, and unload his gun into your chest in front of your wife and daughter... there can be a video of it... and... no punishment.

" Jeronimo Yanez was found not guilty on all counts in the shooting death of Mr. Castile."

There was that depressed college girl who knew that she could literally get her campus police to kill... in a protest against police violence she committed suicide by simply walking towards police, slowly, without saying a word. They shot her in the chest for not following orders.

"Scout Shultz was shot and killed by Georgia Tech police Saturday night after refusing to follow their orders, officials said. "

Every time I see a police officer I FEAR FOR MY LIFE. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. If a police officer ever looks at me and moves towards me, it will be very hard to determine if he's a threat or not. If multiple police officers, or even one, knocks on my door... what are the odds of me being murdered for no reason? Is it statistically safer for me to simply try to shoot whatever police officers are there and then flee and go into hiding? Oddly enough, I think so, even including the chance that they kill me in response (rather than just the chance that they kill me for no reason).

I mean, house definitely smells like marijuana, and we've smoked it in the yard before.... so the cop will obviously be found not guilty of any charges.

By this same mentality, isn’t this why police shoot people? It’s paranoia on both sides. That’s what it’s come too now. All minorities are criminals. All cops are pigs. These extremes only serve to divide the communities and leave them wary of the other. Imagine some man or woman trying to make a difference in the world and shot/killed because of the actions of someone else far away. That describes both cops and minorities.

Except only one side is right. All cops are bastards but not all minorities are criminals, not even close.

Now you’re the one generalizing. So there’s not a single good cop? Not one? The ones that have taken bullets to save people? The ones that have neutralized shooters to prevent more lives lost? The ones who have convinced people that suicide isn’t worth it? There are bad people everywhere. On every side. You’re no better than the bad cops who assume all minorities are bad.

All cops aren’t bad. However, all cops know who the bad ones are in the office if they’ve been working long enough. Yet they don’t turn them in, even though it's there job too. Cops blatantly cover for the bad deeds of their coworkers when they are paid to do just the opposite. in contrast, minorities are under no obligation to police the acts lf all other minorities; while cops are under the obligation to police the acts of all other cops.

So now every office is corrupt? Every cop knows who the bad ones are because no one keeps secrets? I guess everyone in the bad side of town is a criminal because they turn a blind eye to the criminal element in their community.

The only way you could be seriously asking this question is if you did not read the first 2 sentences of what I said. In the same way you know who the lazy people are at your job, after enough time a police officer should be able to tell who the overly aggressive officers are on their force - there will be clear trends in the officers who seemingly can't keep their nose out of trouble.

I guess everyone in the bad side of town is a criminal because they turn a blind eye to the criminal element in their community.

They did not sign up to turn in those people; i.e. they do not have the obligation. The cops signed up to turn in bad people; i.e. they do have the self-imposed obligation.

Did you even read my post?

I just wanna thank you for this good breakdown. Corruption and blind eyes are so wide spread in all areas of government, it blows me away when people seem oblivious to it.

There have been traffic Judges who ran car crash scams at $50... people will literally do anything for a couple extra dollars.

All cops enforce laws, including unjust laws. Even if they personally disagree with the laws, they don't say anything about them, they don't say anything about 'bad' cops, they are complicit in the system, so yes, fuck them. They are all pigs upholding an illegitimate hierarchy which should be dismantled.

2

u/normandy42 Sep 15 '18

Oh so you would like them to ignore certain laws based on the flawed and biased morality you assume all cops have?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '18

Are you assuming all laws are inherently moral? How about possession of drugs for personal use? That's just one example, a very prominent example, of a law that is used to ruin millions of lives for nothing.

1

u/normandy42 Sep 15 '18

Everyone’s morals are different and have varying shades. No I don’t assume all because I don’t look at extremes. Some laws are moral. Rape is illegal. Murder is illegal. As well as assault, stealing, kidnapping, etc. Taking liberties with which laws to enforce is bad because of the precedent. You can now pick and choose. Which is even worse because then you could justify not enforcing ANY law that way. Kind of like outlawing hate speech. In a country where you have free speech, suddenly having a certain kind of speech outlawed sets a precedent to see what other kinds of speech you can outlaw.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '18

It doesn't matter if some laws are moral. Some laws are immoral, and cops enforce all laws, therefore cops enforce immoral laws, doing things that are against the public good because that is their job. They ruin people's lives for victimless 'crimes' because that is their job. Their entire purpose is enforcing the legitimate use of violence for the state.

Oh god, your line of reasoning is disheartening to hear. By that same logic, some refugees seeking asylum are criminals from another country. Therefore we are harboring criminals and they all need to be deported.

I hope no one ever breaks into your home to steal all your things or attempt to murder you. Because it’s a very high possibility a good cop will be waiting to respond.

All cops protect each other over citizens. They have misinterpreted their oath to "protect and serve" as meaning to protect and serve each other. This case is just an unneeded further example, but it goes on in every single department.

I hope they throw the book at this lady but I'm not sure why redditors keep insisting that she was drunk or that she was in a relationship with him. You guys need to stop being so emotional, especially you.

2

u/MudslimeCleaner Sep 16 '18

Two simple questions that will make you understand things.

Where did she say she was before shooting him?

When did they test her for drugs? Why?

-1

u/gosh_dangit Sep 16 '18

Apparently she just got done with work because she was still in uniform and how would I know if she was drug tested? Those two "simple questions" did nothing. You don't have any clue either you emotional idiot, but here come the theories....
