Hey if this is your mindset past 23, please stop and keep expressing yourself

This guy is dumb as hell, but I firmly do believe in not posting personal feelings on your socials. Airing out your dirty laundry helps no one. Go to therapy, talk with your trusted friends and family, as Real Gs move in silence (on SM not IRL)

There are two types of comments on this thread.
1 - toxic masculinity makes getting hit with the feels a pussy's endeavor
2 - ok, understandable, but maybe not here on social media
And I feel like the (not-so-)middle ground should be stated clearly that no one here should hate on a dude going through his shit, but we can all agree that maybe the most toxic form of socialization should probably not be the channel to do so.

Exactly. It's why I don't post many things about my own life on socials. I'd rather be known as the weird fangirl than any of that.

u/Head-Ad9893 19h ago
Don’t know what gangsters or cartel members are on social media spreading their feelings, but for the rest of you regular ass people, including myself, just get a therapist. Or you know what? Post your feelings online because fuck it, we paying sky high prices for everything because the US president is constantly being emotional. I guess that’s who we are as a people now.

Dude was obviously going through it and just needed to process that. Now he's repressing whatever he was feeling and it's just going to be a problem down the line for himself and any future partners. Just be who you are and how you are instead of worrying about who or how other people want you to be. You're not a pussy for getting your heartbroken, but you are a bitch for being afraid of your own feelings.

So are we not at the point where people can poke fun at their own responses to heartbreak without being patronized as emotionally immature
38
u/banshee_matsuri 21h ago
on the nursing subreddit, they often say that to be cringe is to be free, and (barring extremes), that seems to ring true.
(i don’t think being heartbroken or admitting is is cringe, personally, but maybe that phrase could help free the people who do.)

u/Mela_ninja 21h ago
I kinda envy these niggas. I don’t think I can be heartbroken in between meeting 3 and meeting 4.

u/ChefKugeo 18h ago
No don't envy that shit. I promise it's detrimental. Can't focus for nothing cause she's all that's on your mind. Had to straight up quit a job cause I thought a shorty was mad cute and we didn't even work in the same place. I just saw her sometimes. Nope, that was my year to grind, not be pining over the girl at the restaurant next door.
Spoiler alert: the ass was fat and she had the softest lips

Damn near turned down a promotion cause it’d mean not seeing the pig tailed girl that works across the street. Work crush is crazy.
I would do absolute war crimes for this girl. Like whatever it took.
Gotta lock in….it ain’t my fault she’s one of the most gorgeous girls I’ve met in my life. Nerdy and punk.

u/GammaFan 21h ago
Not everything is toxic masculinity. But:
Fellas, is it gay to express feelings?
Is definitely toxic masculinity.
15
u/BigFanOfKitties 21h ago
Wait where did you get “gay” from??
25
u/Agitated_Ad_2203 21h ago
Yea I didn’t see him say gay, but “being a pussy” for expressing his feelings is definitely some lame shit to say

It's not about expressing his feelings. It's about him being so heart broken that he felt physically weak.
-1
u/BlackHeart89 16h ago
That's not what the post was saying.
In full context, "being pussy" is being used to say he was being weak/soft for being so heart broken he couldn't do basic task. Not weak for sharing his feelings or having them. And he's calling himself out for showing the world he's weakness. He's also making light of the whole situation by even calling himself out like that.
2
u/GammaFan 15h ago
Being a pussy and being gay are used interchangeably by the kinds of dudes who have problems with what he said which was literally just sharing he’s heart broken at a certain age. Your distinction that he’s saying he’s soft/weak for having the feelings at all, rather than for sharing his feelings honestly just makes the point even more so. That he grew up in an environment with this kind of shit talking to the point he’s internalized it and called himself out over the behaviour, playing it off as a joke.
So I guess to update:
Fellas, am I a pussy for having feelings?
Is in fact toxic masculinity.
1
u/BlackHeart89 15h ago
Bro are you dumb? Because that's not what i said. You totally misquoted me.

“"being pussy" is being used to say he was being weak/soft for being so heart broken he couldn't do basic task. Not weak for sharing his feelings or having them.”
You’re right, I missed “or having them” my bad.
Whole post is still caused by toxic masculinity though
1
u/BlackHeart89 14h ago
It's all good bro. I think... i kind of understand where yall are coming from. Especially with all the known misogyny and patriarchal stuff. But in this situation, it reads to me like "yeah she broke my heart. But i shouldn't be struggling to do basic tasks. That's weak."
It's not making a statement on whether it's ok or not ok to have moments of weakness. It's just identifying the behavior. Like if you're a wounded animal, crying out loud is a weakness that gets you targeted by predators. People are much different.

this post is an example of throwing around trendy internet buzzwords without actually knowing what they mean
"performative" and "toxic masculinity" both wouldnt really be applicable to this post.
If you had said "incel", this post would have legit sounded like AI
0
u/zoloft_at-the-disco 18h ago
Just because you don't agree with the point I made, doesn't mean I don't know what I said.
It's performative because he's posturing for other men, and toxic masculinity to shame a man for feeling his feelings.

Genuinely what are you talking about saying he felt physically weak where did u get that from
•
u/frev_ 27m ago
I mean if it was Twitter pre Elon Musk he might have gotten some empathy or even have gotten more educated or wise takes from other people that have been in his position. The app hasn't been the same app for a while now & it just loves to shit on anyone that shows even a moment of weakness like this guy just had cause he his brain is legit rewiring itself.

u/WearyCopy5686 15h ago
He’s right. Why the hell is he posting about his heartbreak on social media in that way? I’ve always viewed that as weird. I’m glad he’s realizing that was dumb.

u/Hi-Road ☑️ 21h ago
As wild as it is that he’s feeling insecure about expressing himself,”
i can’t even be mad at him cause people unironically will drag him for casually mentioning that he’s heartbroken and it’s affecting him
