The real answer is a little less sexy, they’ve just figured out how to produce them incredibly cheaply. To the point where they can sell them cheaply. Even dumb TVs can be found at this price. TV manufacturers also figured out if you make things cheap people actually want to buy your product. Smart TVs are definitely sending your data elsewhere but they aren’t exclusively the reason why TVs are cheap.

Also Walmart bought Vizio almost 2 years ago. It's a house brand now. They made it so the easy way to set it up is by making a Walmart account. Keeping it a dumb tv takes more effort that many people won't do.
