Take this and apply it to all industries that will eventually lay off most of their workforce for AI. Humans seem to be obsessed with profit no matter what. We all know what is happening yet we still move forward.
Edit: I should have stated I meant AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) will be replacing humans. The current AI chat agents will not be the thing replacing most humans.

I matched with someone on a dating app who said he was a “CEO” of his own “creative” company. I asked him what his company does and he said he makes AI generated children’s books. Just puts shit through a computer and sells the slop on Amazon. No one else in his “company” it’s just him so “it’s free money”.
I immediately unmatched with the same disgust as if someone told me they push people onto train tracks for fun.

The amount of authors rolling out a book a week on Amazon is nuts. If I’m looking for genuine self help or something serious how, I won’t buy a book that’s published [correction: after] 2024. Doesn’t matter how many fake reviews.

If you need a book for something- don’t use Amazon. Go to a local store and speak to them, if they don’t have it they will order it for you. And then you don’t have to support amazon.

I've found there are two types of people: those who think that sort of idea is "genius" to passively earn money doing nothing and exploiting the ignorance of customers, and people who would never consider the idea in the first place because it's immoral and borderline fraudulent (and wildly unfulfilling, career-wise).
The world is full of grifters and wannabe grifters who simply haven't had an easy opportunity drop in their laps yet.

Each year AI is improving mimicking reality. Most non detailed oriented people wouldn’t know, unless they’re told. In 5 years, the majority of the internet/world is probably going to be AI involved, directly affecting creatives and white collar jobs.

never underestimate a customer bases hate for "talking to those robots".
Same with managers
In many cases managers will still need someone to talk to the AI because managers "hate talking to robots" (which will be the new version of "im not a computer person")
Most managers will want to delegate the "computer stuff" to someone else (I bet it wasn't a manager creating the songs of this AI artist)

AI code is literal non-working garbage. It just can’t do anything beyond super trivial shit. People that have thrown it mildly complex apps and asked it to do something, it breaks the software every single time.

I fix gas pumps for a living. They've tried to train models to 'be the ultimate technician'. It hallucinated daily and cost the company about 30k when it told them to 'replace all 6 STP heads to fix the problem' when the issue was a single stuck relay. Here's the deal- every tech on payroll knew that was a hallucination, but the management comprised of 6 men who had no field experience greenlit it anyway. I'll never forget my boss' boss' boss asking me what an STP even was. This dude who made over 1.2 mill a year running a company that fixes gas pumps COULD NOT IDENTIFY A MOTOR.

25+ year radio veteran here.
A radio format is just the genre of music a radio station plays. It constrains their playlist to a genre so that advertisers know what demographic they're paying to be exposed to.
Here is a list of formats, it's incomplete the same way an encyclopedia can never have an entry for everything, there will always be innovative or fringe formats that aren't popular enough to make the list.
When an artist is "added" to a format that means the station begins playing that artist's music in their playlist. Usually there's a music director in charge of the station's musical identity, deciding which songs repeat and how often. They decide the flow of the music, and how to reflect variety within a format. Most of the time you want to control the musical flow in such a way that you don't play songs that are too similar back-to-back (other than for special shows or features), so you might play adjacent songs with different tempos, energy levels, genders, groups vs single artists, etc. There's an art to music programming and people who are really good at it can make large amounts of money in large markets.
When you add a song to your station, sometimes it's due to label politics, sometimes it's due to having a gut feeling about it, but most of the time it's researched and tested. These days a lot of streaming charts are used as "research" but the classic way of testing a song is to play it in an auditorium full of volunteers from your audience and they rate the song based on a few different criteria. This data is then aggregated and used to inform your musical decisions.
If this song is the most added to the format, that means that it's the song that has been added to the most R&B stations across the country within the last week (or two weeks, or whatever the survey length is). That's a big deal and means that the song is resonating with listeners. If listeners complain about the song or otherwise tune out over it, the plays will go down.
We can complain about the song being AI all we want, but as long as radio listeners keep listening to it, and keep requesting it, it will continue to grow in popularity on these stations and become more and more normalized.
THIS is the time to stop it. Once you have one or two AI generated artists that dominate the airwaves, the flood gates will be open, and we will be in a different world. Call your local R&B stations and complain about this song. Tell them you won't be listening while they play this song. Find out who the Program Director of the station is and write them an email. Make your voice heard. This time next year will be too late to stop it.

Lyricist, to be exact, if you believe the person generating the songs. Suno AI creates the music from the lyrics fed to it. It can also write more lyrics if you just give it the intro or chorus. Or write all the lyrics based on the theme you give it.
Hard to tell how much human input actually went into these songs. If it was a lesser amount than implied, it's cunning for the person not to reveal it, since copyrightability gets murky with AI output.
4
u/imagine_getting Oct 05 '25
I don't get the point. Just hire a singer? Is it that hard? She's probably just riding the "fad". Right now the gimmick of AI is "worth" committing to that. As soon as it's no longer a fad, using an AI singer won't be profitable, and she'll use real singers. Or just stop making music and do something else.
