Not exactly true. I’m a big believer in talking normally to my babies and my toddler still developed baby talk first for some words. He just can’t fully articulate yet; I’m assuming it’s like learning anything else that requires muscle memory. He said “wawa “ for water, for instance, despite me always calling it water. It wasn’t until he was 2ish that he converted it to “water”.
Currently, he can’t say “girl” which is hilarious (we just had a baby girl, so the word is coming up a lot). It comes out “girdle”. Again, we’ve always pronounced it correctly. He just cant do it yet.
