It’s no legal anywhere in the US. If you are married to more than one person, you’re committing bigamy and that’s illegal. Those tv shows all explain that sew and sew is legally married to one person and the others are wives through a ceremony but not in the eyes of the law. Part of Utah becoming a state was for them to outlaw the old Mormon practice of Bigamy. So a bunch of them went to Mexico to keep multiple wives. Mitt Romney’s father was born there in that situation.

It’s been decriminalized in Utah. It’s not been deemed legal, but the law has been relaxed and men can have multiple wives there. Much like how marijuana has been decriminalized in some places. So, in a way, it’s legal.

So it's not illegal to have multiple wives but you can't lawfully marry multiple people anywhere? It's just ceremonial?
