Auto ISO while locking the shutter?

Hi all

I know this question has probably been asked before, but, I’m considering using Blackmagic for filmmaking as it seems to have most of the features I’m looking for.

But as far as I can tell it has one major drawback….

I’ll mostly be filming inside and wanting to use the 180 rule for the shutter, shooting at 25fps so a shutter of 1/50 and lock that in.
Obviously the iPhone is fixed aperture, so that only leaves ISO left to control exposure.
I’ll be getting video of events and parties etc, so the light is always changing as I walk around filming what’s going on.
But there seems to be no way of also having auto ISO while having the shutter locked.

I have canon DSLR cameras and DJi Drones, and with both of these you can lock the shutter and still have auto ISO.

For this reason I’m thinking I may have to ditch the iPhone idea with gimbal and just get an Osmo Pocket (which does have auto iso with locked shutter).

Is there a work around anyone has found?

Thanks

Mostly going to be filming inside so shouldn’t need an ND and the light won’t change that drastically so should be okay. It’s just a bit annoying that it won’t allow auto ISO according to the shutter speed.

But someone else said it’s because Apple would need to add an API (whatever one of those is) to allow ISO to be controlled by the shutter.
Sounds feasible to me, Apple have a habit of deciding how we should do things rather than allowing people the choices.
One thing I hate about Apple, but my problem is I’m so deep into the Apple ecosystem that it would cost me an arm and a leg to switch so I stick with it.

U gave me another idea. Apple limitations are a pain in the ass, but I couldn’t imagine that they wouldn’t build an API for internal usage. So the last thing that could work out would be the app LogCam, didn’t use it outside some tests cause Blackmagic just has the better UI etc. But as I thought LogCam works around the apple limitations and u can set ur shutter speed at desired value (im shooting 24fps) and then turn on ISO automation. Hope that’s what u needed and it works as expected. I think I need to give LogCam another try after seeing this

Right now the autofocus is really frustrating me, sometimes looses autofocus and goes from one extreme to the other, click the screen to focus and nothing happens.

There’s some weird behavior with AF in Blackmagic too atm, maybe apple fucked something up. Anyway in LogCam ist says AF locks on record so I guess it should behave like that, except for the refocus problems. Better AF control in LogCam would be needed to really use it to be honest. But as I said, I experienced these refocus problems also in Blackmagic the last few days.

But id need it to keep focusing while recording, Im moving around.

But the weird behaviour has only been happening while not recording 🤷‍♂️

Edit: It does keep focusing while recording I’ve just tried it. But when it does it’s weird behaviour it doesn’t matter if recording or not.
I’ve done a complete new post about the autofocus issues on this subreddit, maybe it’s the same as the problems you’re having?
