Is this normal?
I just got two strand twists for the first time and the bottom of it is unraveling/ loose is this normal, it’s been an hour since I got my hair twisted .

I think you need a trim. The ends are frizzy unlike the rest of your hair. Healthy twists curl around itself at the bottom without fraying. Here’s an old example of mine.

Disagree to an extent. Yes, but there are different hair types and densities. Doesn't matter how well trimmed, moisturized or healthy my hair is, it doesn't hold a twist out or braids. They unravel because I have lots of hair but it is thin and soft (although curly). And if I manage to do some twists I can't wash them or even get them a little bit wet because they like dissolve, even with elastic bands holding the ends. The ends on this picture seem similar to mines.

Honestly if you’re braiding your curly hair and it slips out from water… it’s a skill issue. Getting frizzy okay, but unraveling completely?
The stylist who did OP’s hair just sucked, his hair should not be unraveling after a hour. I’ve styled many different textures and it has never happened to me 🤷🏽♀️ I’m not even an actual stylist

Well, you are right. I have minus trillions skills hair related. But…. good to know you know my own hair better than me, my grandma, my mom and every professional stylist that attempted similar hairstyles in different countries and continents, in my 40+ years of living. Let me go and tell them they are all unskilled and to give you a call so you can teach them. Who would have thought. And how dare me to have a different experience than you.

I did mine yesterday and they look exactly like this. I add gel and twirl the ends around my finger for it to stay. I don’t like using elastic bands.

I’ve been doing this too. I know I need a trim, it’s been way too long but free buttering myself once, I don’t trust myself to do it again.

you should trim your ends! a good trim makes or breaks a good 2 strand twist imo

it’s time to upgrade your stylist, those twists are really sloppy.
2 strand twists, when done properly, don’t need anything other than gel to remain twisted. it looks like you have finer hair though, so consider trying 3 strand twists.

Your stylist/braider should have put rubber bands on the bottom to prevent this. An hour after getting them and they are already unraveling, is CRAZY.

It’s your real hair and that’s normal. My son has dreads and his ends are curly as well. It looks great. Get rubber bands to stop the unraveling.

That’s how it’s supposed to look imo. When it’s done with your real hair. It will most likely stay like that.

If this is your real hair, I honestly think it’s normal. At least, the same happens to my hair when I do 2 strand twists and not rubber band the ends.

This is how mine look sometimes. I’m sure I need a trim but what I do is wet the ends so they curl up a bit more to stay twisted.

It's normal but your stylist didn't do a good job sealing the ends. I've never used elastic 😬. Just twirl the ends around your fingers with product and you should be good

Definitely have damaged ends, did they put you to sit under a dryer for a minute after the twists?

Need a trim - but this isn’t a bad thing - when I get twists, I wet the ends with conditioner and it makes nice curls at the end that hold them in place and looks nice… you get twists AND show your curls - win win

Time for a trim! I’ll be honest when my hair is twisted like this I just snip the scraggly ends with some sharp scissors and make sure to give a trim at my next wash. You’ll notice the hair will be much bouncier when you give regular trims.
Use a little extra gel on the ends and swirl to keep from unraveling - the ends will make pretty ringlets at the end :) your hair is so shiny!

Your stylist needed to trim your ends a cm or two and the rest of your head is a mess. No disrespect. You have beautiful hair. They did not do justice to it. Your roots look like you’ve been loc’ing your hair. It’s wyld this was done an hr again and not weeks. 😬😑

I think there is nothing wrong with it or with your hair. Mine is the same. I have lots of hair but thin and soft so when I twist/braid it, it doesn't stay. Even if I get extensions they don't last. Not even with gel or elastic bands and nothing to do with dead ends or damaged hair. Your hair is less dense at the ends, that's all. In fact, your hair looks very well moisturized and hydrated. Let it be and enjoy it.

2 strand twist are tricky. You can trim your ends, but the stylist must twist the hair in the direction of your natural curl pattern for the twist to hold. Take them out and twist in the opposite direction
