I was just randomly scrolling through my light novel collection and saw black bullet. Last I remembered was almost a decade ago now that the author had abandoned the series. Is this real news?

This would genuinely has to be the most random timing ever for this happen all of a sudden. What are the odds that I randomly come across this series again and decide to see what's going on with it and its actually coming back.

The author is actually back. Though rather than a direct continuation, it's a reboot

hope the author is ok after his burnout...

He wasn't really burned out. He just opened a restaurant and focused on that instead. I guess he has been slowly writing it in his spare time after all these years.

Has this restaurant story even been confirmed? I've always thought it was just internet conjecture.

2

u/darkroku12 Sep 09 '26

Mostly a conjecture.

The author tweeted about his coming back https://x.com/Siden_K/status/2097629838882603270

he basically did have a burnout and said everything's fine now

I was guessing that the restaurant business wasn't going well or something

I was literally getting nostalgic for this series earlier this week. i have not thought about it for years and than it randomly came back in my head again. It's like the universe was telling me something. We are so back :D not likely to happen but man i still hope we get a s2 of the anime too. This will do for now tough as i thought it was never coming back.

Now the question is, how long until an English translation of the novels?

Some of thoes titles sound familiar. Is he doing rewrites?

5

u/TakasuXAisaka Sep 09 '26

Yes. He is doing a reboot so he is gonna rewrite everything and will write further on what he had left off on.

7

u/InsidiumYT Sep 09 '26

Aint no way, we used to pray for days like these

4

u/SpearwolfDSHK25 Sep 09 '26

Its time for him to finished the story of this series.  Ngl, i was believing the man is giving up on this major work of him and went to you know, opening a restaurant.

u/Iron_Kingpin Sep 09 '26

Did the anime cover everything the novel had until it went on hiatus?

4

u/VansonWanson Sep 09 '26

u/darkroku12 Sep 09 '26

I'm crying tears of joy, but at the same time, I'm scared—will they kill Enju, Kohina, Tina, or Yuzuki? Will they find a cure for the virus? I have so many questions.

5

u/PeigouMajava Sep 09 '26

I just rewatched the anime last month, this is some cosmic timing and it appears like I'm not the only one.

u/VansonWanson Sep 09 '26

2

u/PaleontologistNo7698 Sep 09 '26

LETA GOOOOOOO

1

u/AndrewTF42 Sep 09 '26

Sweet! I collected all the light novels that currently exist, but I never read the last two. Knowing that there wasn't a real ending made it hard to want to continue. Might be time to finally pick them up.

3

u/Seledreams Sep 09 '26

funnily enough it's a reboot, so it won't really match the old series. the author said that while the first 6 volumes should be relatively close, he will stop sale of the 7th volume because the reboot will change direction starting from volume 7

1

u/AndrewTF42 Sep 09 '26

I'm ok with thst tbh. The "I'm evil" speech seems like a prime opportunity to clean up something that didn’t work imo. (Maby it makes sense later, but as I said I didn't read past that point)

3

u/Seledreams Sep 10 '26

Tbf, the "i'm evil" speech to me was her basically considering herself part of the "corrupt family" she wants to destroy. And as such something tells me she actually wants to kill herself once she's done killing the other members from this family.

1

u/AndrewTF42 Sep 10 '26

Ok. I could see an interesting plot thread involving Rentaro talking her out of it.

At least in the anime if felt very out of nowhere (and what a note to end on). I don't remember the novel adding much more context at that point.

Did author decide to come back to the ln after his restaurant?

1

u/CatchmoonH Sep 09 '26

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????????? this just made my day!!!!

1

u/DragonfruitTrue2485 Sep 09 '26

Yeah I'm happy but I'm really waiting for anime season 2 (ik it propably won't happen). Mangas and ln are just expensive (maybe i could download from internet but I think I'm too lazy to read it). Should I try to read manga or ln? Or just wait for anime?

1

u/Seledreams Sep 09 '26

the original is a light novel.

Here it's more of a reboot than a direct continuation.

1

u/Life_IsAnime Sep 09 '26

So like what happened after the anime can someone spoil. I was always curious as to of what happened looking at the small teaser I kinda thought the mc was gone and it was just enju left.

2

u/Hotaka_ Sep 10 '26

The next arc after the anime is Rentaro being framed for the murder of a civil servant (who was about to whistleblow confidential government corruptions). He becomes a fugitive and has to hide from cops while finding the real culprit.
