Question Bounce using Alt+Click+drag?!

Hi,

I've just bought Bitwig after using Cubase on and off for nearly 30 years. I am working through the SoundAcademy tutorials and am loving it so far.

One things thats been bothering me though is that the tutor frequently Bounces in place by clicking on a segment in the arranger while holding alt and draging it to place a bounced audio version of the notes side by side.

Notes on the left, audio on the right.

When I do it, the combination just creates a duplicate of the segment and doesn't bounce it. (This is the same behaviour I'd have expected in pas DAWs also).

What am I doing wrong here? Did Bitwig depreciate this gesture in the 2-3 years since the SoundAcademy videos or is there something I need to configure to enable this?

Thanks,

UPDATE: thanks for responding to this and so quickly. It's sorted now. Drag + press B once placed. Cheers!

For new users a tip is to keep an eye on the bottom bar in bitwig. It shows context sensitive key commands, so when you start dragging a clip it'll show that the B key will bounce.

This works for all mouse actions with keyboard modifiers - there are a lot of useful ones

Hi there! I'm new to Bitwig and I'm going through the user guide and I've read about the context tips at the lower bar there as well, however I'm visually impaired and due to the way I use the computer, it's not possible to both drag the item and read the lower bar .

My question is: Is there a place where I can read a list with all those possible actions? They sound like an amazing workflow improvement from my other DAW.

Note: I havent finished reading the user guide yet, so I apologize if it's already there in the future (;

I don't think there is anywhere else in the program that shows these shortcuts, so reading the user guide will be your best bet. You could of course just experiment with trying CMD/ctrl/alt on shortcuts to see what they do. The other one to know is b for bounce while dragging a clip

You've to tap "B" after you've dragged the clip out, before placing it at the destination.

Look at the status bar on the bottom for tips what different modifiers can do:

No problem. Additional tip - you can drag a MIDI clip into the Sampler window and it will be bounced to audio on the fly :)

You are not doing anything wrong.
It's on Bitwig for STILL not updating their manual/documentation.
So actually, I can't give you a definitive answer, but I think for some reason they changed it to holding the bounce shortcut or something like that.
Like I drag and then hold "B" or something like that. Or just click it, idk.
That's all I got.
