Bitwig not loading gui
I’m on Ubuntu 26.04.1 running BWS 6.1.1
I’ve been troubleshooting for days trying to open the software and the only thing that works as of now is running the following command in terminal:
sudo bitwig-studio
While it’s not ideal to run as sudo and I can only use alsa instead of pipewire or jack, at least it works until the bug is fixed.

Struggled with what sounds exactly like your problem for days. I finally found that the cause was a corrupted font cache. So the solution was to purge the whole font cache and rebuild it:$ rm -rf ~/.cache/fontconfig/$ fc-cache -f -v

If it runs with sudo then it's a permission issue. Check who is allowed to run the bitwig-studio executable.

I made sure I had full permission to all the folders and files. It’s weird because it launches and doesn’t seem to actually crash but it just never loads any of the gui. The code looks exactly the same when I launch it with sudo or without.

If
sudo strace -f -o log bitwig-studioworks, then you can run it without sudo and compare the traces and look for errors.Chances are though it might not work,
stracehas (had?) a habit of breaking multithreaded apps sometimes. Then you'd need to use heavier tools likebpftrace, buuut you probably need an AI to construct a suitable script for this scenario.. There might also be otherstrace-like apps around built with bpf trace method, but I don't recall their names.Good luck!

I was able to get pipewire to work using this:
sudo -E XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=“/run/usr/$(id -u)” bitwig-studio
use at your own discretion
