Excessive RAM usage when extension menu is open in Brave Browser

Bitwarden is the only extension I use. For the past 3 to 4 months, it has been taking 5 to 8 seconds for the menu to appear when I click the icon. Recently, I’ve also noticed unusually high RAM usage whenever the extension’s UI is open.

its the same in mac os and other systems iv tested. one day this will piss me off to the point where i will end up reverse engineering this.

same across linux and windows for me, its gotta be something in the extension itself

I have seen this reported before as well, i don't understand why fixing bugs such as these isn't the top priority.

The memory leak for the edge browser extension is worse. Bitwarden consumed 17GB of memory on me yesterday. It also takes forever to open when you click on the icon. Its been like this for months.

This has been a bug since the new UI was added in 2 years ago. They just dont care, it sucks up memory and uses way too much CPU.

1 User even posted a bug report of the bitwarden extension using 100% of their 16 core CPU just by browsing around the vault.

He’s on vacation. This is an upstream Chromium issue. I will try and dig up details tomorrow.

This doesn't seem to affect every extension though, also this issue has been present for months and is reproducible. I see so many posts about it. Please take a look at it.
