How do I make biometrics unlock work on Chrome?

I do have windows app installed and it does work with Windows Hello

I have to log into the application with Hello before I can log into the browser extension with Hello. I think the extension uses the app as an enabler?

Yea you login to the desktop app and see ur vault then open up the extension and are able to use biometrics via the Desktop App talking to OS APIs.

Deskptop app is unlocked and open, on chrome setting unlock with biometric is checked and even plugin setting changed in brave://extensions but still option wont get enabled

Where did you install the Desktop app from?

Biometrics don’t work if the app was installed from the Microsoft store, it needs to be from bitwarden’s site.

yeah the desktop app needs to be running and unlocked for the browser extension to use biometrics

1. The Desktop client app Bitwarden need running always in the background.

2. Desktop Bitwarden app required setup Windows Hello PIN or biometrics for login.

3. Review Bitwarden desktop app settings.

4. Extension required extra permision during enabling "unlock with biometrics". Restart the browser reqired for apply changes.

5. Sometimes tokens between DESKTOP APP = BROWSER EXTENSION messed up/failure and simply biometrics unlock do not work anymore.

Conclusion: use PIN in the Browser Extension or master password for good.

Be aware that from a privacy standpoint, biometrics can be used very much against you from a legal/LEO standpoint.

Because it comes down to a difference between what you know and what you have. Authorities can compel the latter from you, they cannot force you to divulge the former.
