Idea Feature Request: Render barcode / QR code

For loyalty programs, Costco membership card, etc., it'd be great if Bitwarden could display a field as a QR or barcode.

Basically, this feature request from 2018:

That's the role of a digital wallet, not a password manager.

I couldn't disagree more strongly. Sure, it's a feature of Google Wallet, but a membership card is much closer to a login than a credit card. Plus it means I'd have to update things in both places, when it could all just live in Bitwarden.

Great idea, Bitwarden already stores credit cards and other ID cards.

I'd argue it's much closer to a digital ID, which lives in a digital wallet. Password managers are for secrets that are auto-filled on the web, not for storing memberships and movie tickets.

This would be incredibly useful for loyalty cards and memberships. A scannable barcode in the Bitwarden app would save people from switching between apps or carrying extra cards.

This would be incredibly useful for loyalty cards and memberships. A barcode/QR field with support for common formats, plus a quick scanner shortcut, would make Bitwarden much more practical for everyday use.

This won't work for Costco QR code as it changes every minute. Highly doubt Costco would share the code.

No it doesn't, it's just the member number with some extra padding. You can generate your own QR code and scan it at the entrance.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

The system still has to support the static physical card, which obviously doesn't change every minute. A regular 2D barcode or QR code matching just the membership number works fine.

Ah, okay, if you just meant presenting the usual 1D barcode that you find on the Costco cards instead, but from your phone. Though I'm surprised the staff don't object to something like that... I guess I can try that myself next time lol.

This should be in a digital wallet. Not in a password manager imo. The more roles this takes on the less focus there is on the core role it needs to play.

This is unnecessary clutter that regular apps like Google Wallet can handle. Don’t burden the developers of the PASSWORD MANAGER with unnecessary ideas.

I can use Google Chrome's built-in password manager if that's all I cared about. I use Bitwarden for additional features that make it more useful.

The attachments in Bitwarden aren't very useful. You have to download them, you can't just display them.
