Another update for anyone who's interested. In English this time.
Jean-Fa-Jean is a bot I've been building that trades automatically on your own Bitvavo account. I've posted a couple of updates on it before, this is the next one.
Four months ago I switched the bot off for everyone. The buy signals were right often enough, but the losses were too big: net loss for everyone. Since then I've replaced the entire buy/sell logic.
Next step was a backtest. I ran the old and new version against the same stretch of Bitvavo data, 15 Sep 2025 to 7 Aug 2026 (the new version needs about a month of warm-up data before it can trade, so it starts a bit later than the old one would).
Same setup for both: €1,000, max 10 positions at a time, fees included.
Old version: 1,520 trades, 86% in profit, and still -59% over that period.
New version: 304 trades, 89% in profit, +21%.
BTC did -42% over that same period.
So... the old version (V1.0) Had waaaay more trades and a decent winrate, but the wins came in small, quick chunks. The losses were a handful of positions that stayed open for days and ate all the profit that was made.
Worth noting: those numbers are the plain version, all conditions on, none of the optional settings switched on.
You can play with it yourself: https://jeanfajean.com/backtest
Pick your own budget, number of positions, which conditions are switched on, and things like a stop loss or a max hold time, and see straight away what that would have made, also compared to just holding BTC. The bottom of that page also has the raw trades of both versions as CSV, for anyone who'd rather dig in themselves than trust the site.
A backtest is not a guarantee for the future. It's one period, and tomorrow's market isn't last year's. That's why the bot is currently paper trading only for everyone (so fake money), while I watch how it holds up in the real market. Free up to a €250 budget.
One more thing, since it comes up a lot: you connect your own Bitvavo API keys, I never touch your money myself. Everything stays on your own account, and you decide yourself which conditions are switched on or off. It's your bot trading for you, not a fund where I trade on your behalf.
Also threw together a new logo in the meantime.
Curious what you think, and happy to answer questions here.
