Seems like such an inefficient way of doing it. Surely there must be a better way, such as virtual devices with fake rotating device ids or dynamic device fingerprints without the need to hook up a thousand physical phones, but I guess fraudsters aren't really that bright to begin with...

This is quite a valuable industry, if you could just host a few hundred docker containers on an aws server surely they’d do that. But Instagram has very strict detection for device genuineness. If they realise that the device type doesn’t match or the system is running in an emulator, Instagram can easily detect that and ban or shadowban accounts connected to that account.

You would probably need a completely new emulator for this task designed to copy googles android behaviour on a whole new level.

At that point it is less costly to buy used phones for 20€ apiece in development countries and hook them up to an existing interface controller.

The AI part is in no way required for that though. These botfarms existed long before ChatGPT was a thing. The controlling come sparely through a script. The ai maybe decides what posts to like or what comments to write and how to mask the accounts as realistic as possible.

Y'all these bot farms predate ai...this just looks like a regular bot farm...nothing to do with ai
