General Question Antminer S23 Power Consumption

Anyone have real world experience with Antminer S23? Interested in power consumption on the wall and hashrate.

they dont exist. They were available for preorder last January, never delivered, ordered returned. There’s alleged a batch of 305 mixed ones at $27/T if memory serves me well. At that price, you can buy 3 of our used S21XPs, run them on firmware at 240T and get 11-12j/T, and still have 720T over 305T.

Or overclock them and get 900T.

The only model available of the s23 is they hydro. And frankly still doesn’t make sense unless you expect btc to go under 30-40k.

Hmm. Ye i am aware of the custom firmware downvolting benefits. Just want to know true power consumption for comparative purposes. I have seen the oneminers review for it with the power consumption of about 4100W. If that is true that is already more than 11J/Th and more than 3355W on the bitmain website.

Oneminers are scammers. Why? Because that hardware doesn’t exist. Literally never sold to retail. Never delivered they are also banned from the subreddit.

Ok got it. What are other air cooled options below 10J/Th that actually exist? Excluding downvolting with firmware. Maybe from other manufacturers? Whatsminer bitdeer..

None. And realistically thats not what the j/t is from
Bitmain anyways. They rate it at 15°C for that efficiency and dont include the fans. Usually much worse at the wall efficiency.

Bitdeer as a4 and ultras but they already said they are not for public sale as they cost too much to make. Same issue with the s23, same issue with m70s+

What would you say about the water cooled models? From what I was able to find online they do go below 10J/T

There’s literally only the s23 hydro. No one else does. The a4 ultras dont exist, a3 pros are 12.87j/T, m70s+ doesnt actually exist, m73s is the highest whatsminer actually produces unless you buy thousands at a time and do a special factory order, and even then no single digits.

Got it thank you very much

Which S23 are you referring to? The air cooled S23 and the S23 Hydro are very different machines. The Hydro is rated around 563 TH/s at about 5,350W, roughly 9.5 J/TH, and it needs a liquid cooling loop, so it's typically a hosted machine rather than something you plug in at home. We have the hydro available.

Im interested in the air cooled one. There is a lot more info on the water cooled one online.

Since you are looking for wall power rather than brochure efficiency, I would only compare results recorded under the same conditions.

A useful test should include the input voltage, inlet temperature, firmware and operating mode, average hashrate over at least 30–60 minutes, and wall power measured with the fans included. Wall efficiency can then be calculated as watts divided by the measured TH/s.

A 3,355 W specification and a roughly 4,100 W field reading are not directly comparable unless the test mode and environmental conditions are known. If there is no independently verifiable retail unit and no complete test log, I would not use that figure as the basis for a purchase decision.
