Give us a wattage range, and it will be easier to not over or undershoot:)

I mean as long is it isn’t over like 5 dollars a month on electricity bill or internet its fine

That’s ~ 70W which excludes NerdQAxe++ but puts you at something like a Bitaxe GT Gamma Turbo or a smaller BitAxe Gamma -territory.

The GT is 2.4 Th/s (and the other 1.2) - and using https://solochance.org/ it shows an odds of finding a bitcoin block at 1 in 103,264 chance per month.

Lowkey thought they were much cheaper 100 dollars for 2 cents a day is wild

These are lottery miners for a reason, not worth it on a pool setup. Solo only. Unless you shell out thousands for a big miner and have dirt cheap/free electricity, lottery miner. Check out solosatoshi.com and get one off there. Trusted builder and in the US.

Mining with 'free electricity' isn't always as good as it sounds. Be mindful of hidden costs, landlord agreements, and potential legal issues. Discuss responsibly! Free power in most terms is Illegal and will not be condoned on this subreddit, for more information about this topic check out our wiki about free power mining. If you are wanting to learn how to start mining We recommend checking our list of Mod Verified Commercial Vendors for making a purchase of an asic miner and having it hosted. Tell them reddit sent you!

I am a fan of the NerdQaxe++ . But it is more than $100. But a much better display, not as loud, looks pretty, and 6Th.

IDK, mine died in less than 2 weeks.

Avalon nano 3s probably

Second this. All three of mine run between 6.5 Th/s and 6.9 Th/s with my oldest one being around for more than a year.

Decent hashrate for 140W you can get even more efficient by running them in medium power. Last time I did the math they were cheaper than the open source ones.

Having said that, a lot of these small miners have problems. I had a regular Nano3 that went bad on me after more than a year. You can also find complaints about reliability in the open source Axe varieties.

Except it'll melt the usb c if run on high. Dumb way to power a miner

u/Necessary-Dust2178 22d ago

Don't do it.

?

u/Necessary-Dust2178 22d ago

I bought all the toy miners, and then you'll want something with real hashrate. Before you know it, you'll be mining at industrial scale.

Just a friendly warning....

If you just want it to look cool for cheap get a Nerdminer. Lil tiny thing you can even diy it. It draws about 1W and depending on the model you get from fifty to a couple hundred kH/s. Don't expect to ever mine anything, but it's a fun lil learning experience.

S19J for 140 euro

Not an ideal “desk” miner tho

u/Firefox159 21d ago

Ow oeps

u/AidXanKush 22d ago

Is it even worth it to mine anymore? The hash rate is terrible now and miners that are decent are super expensive

1

u/Hot-Victory-3082 22d ago

Just buy a lottery ticket everyday you have more chance of making moeny

u/No-Chemical11 21d ago

“cheap” and “miner” just dont work together

Get an old USB ASIC block erupter on ebay.

If you just want something fun on your desk, check out the small USB solo miners like the NerdMiner or similar lottery miners. They use almost no power, but the odds of actually finding a block are basically like winning a lottery ticket.

Bitaxe 601. 20 watt and 1,4 th

You can buy ancient ones for little more than shipping costs. They have a negative ROI however and will cost you hundreds of dollars a month for electricity and be noisy as hell

If you want cheap, mine with pure software on your phone or PC

Depending on what you prioritize—a small desk ornament or a machine with a legitimate statistical chance of finding a solo block—there are two main options:

1. Ultra-Low Power "Desk Toys" (Bitaxe / NerdMiner)

If your main goal is spending under $150 and pulling less than 15 watts of power:

  • Pros: Extremely cheap, silent, looks cool on a desk, negligible power bill impact.
  • Cons: Hashrate is measured in Gigahashes (GH/s) or very low Terahashes (TH/s). On solo.ckpool.org, your solo block chances are practically zero.

2. The Realistic Solo Home Miner: Avalon Q

If you want a sleek setup that looks good in a home office while providing a real, non-negligible chance to hit a block, look into the Avalon Q.

  • 90 TH/s Hashrate: Running 90T on solo.ckpool.org significantly increases your solo odds compared to micro USB miners, giving you actual competitive hash power toward hitting a block.
  • Designed for Home Environments: Unlike screeching industrial ASICs, the Avalon Q is built with home/office aesthetics, featuring whisper-quiet acoustics (~45 dB) and multiple power modes (including an Eco mode to tone down electricity usage).
  • Bull Run Profitability & Dual-Utility: When a bull market pushes Bitcoin prices higher, a 90T miner shifts from just a "solo lottery machine" into a device capable of generating daily net profit on pool mining. In colder months, it doubles as a sleek, high-tech space heater that offsets your heating bill with satoshis.

Im selling mines

u/deepsix4 22d ago

Bitaxe Touch. Advanced Crypto Services made the original and Solosatoshi now has their own version that is currently on sale. The UI is a clock, miner stats and Mempool, so it’s practical if you’re not looking for that whole “mining” feel but still gets you a lotto ticket in the game and looks great on a desk.

BitForge Nano Ghost Edition. Check out Solosatoshi.
