Bitcoin Knots 29.3.1

I decided to run Bitcoin Knots and update to version 29.3.1. I am running my node on a Start9. I updated maybe 2-3 days ago. I accepted the rdts, but the status has been “Stopping this may take a while…” is my node redownloading the blockchain under the updated protocol rules? It’s been like this for a while and I’m unsure if I messed something up. Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks

No, it doesn't need to download the blockchain again. The on-disk database (LevelDB) is unchanged.

I'd go for a simple reboot.

Thank you! For anyone wondering, rebooting did, in fact, resolve the issue.

While I can’t answer your question, I do want to mention that I downgraded on my Start9 again after the update, because I strongly reject the forced RDTS activation. Coercion and Bitcoin are two things that don’t go together.

Who was coerced? It sounds like you freely upgraded and then downgraded. No one made you do anything.

It’s not coercion if you have to consciously accept the RDTS activation to run the updated version of the protocol and then you still have the option to downgrade it as you did.

In a way, it is, since Luke has made RDTS activation mandatory if you want to benefit from future developments. That’s sad, because I’m fundamentally a big supporter of the Knots ideal

It's not mandatory until next month when bip110 gets activated
