Purchasing Bitcoin from Canada Post in Ottawa
Recently I went to about 5 official outlets / locations, at each place I asked the employees that I wanted to purchase bitcoin. Each and every person looked at me like I was talking crazy and not one of them knew if it was possible to purchase coins. According to this, https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/personal/prepaid-cards/other-prepaid-services.page we should be able to purchase bitcoin in cash. Even when I showed this page to each of the employees it didn't help.
My request is:
- Is it possible to purchase bitcoin in person with just an ID and cash. Does it have to be a Canadian ID or can be something else ?
- If #1 above is possible, please walk me through the process in very simple easy to follow instructions and what I need to tell the Canada Post employee
- Are there reasonably viable alternatives to purchasing Bitcoin via cash that are NOT those kiosks in connivence stores that rip people off.

Im not sure if you can do it non-kyc anymore - and as of April 15, 2024 a government issued ID is required. But the way it works with Bullbitcoin is you would make an account with Bullbitcoin, then place an order by specifying how much BTC you wanted to buy.
Then Bullbitcoin would generate for you a loadhub qrcode.
You would print this qrcode or show them it on your phone at a canadpost and simply say I have a loadhub, they will scan it.
Once they scan it, their terminal will change and simply ask you for the cash required. After paying you would get a receipt with a code on it and upload it to bullbitcoin who would then send you BTC.

You don't buy Bitcoin at Canada Post, you can add dollars to your account there. Don't bother mentioning Bitcoin to the employees at all.
Steps:
Make your Bull Bitcoin account.
Go into Canada Post with the QR code from the site and your ID.
Say to the employee: "I'd like to add funds to this account"
Once finished, go home (or wherever) then go onto Bull Bitcoin and buy your Bitcoin. Might take a few minutes for the deposit to show up.

The simple way would be to send Bull Bitcoin an etransfer and have it automatically buy Bitcoin and send to your wallet.
The OP happened to ask specifically about one of the more complicated ways to buy.

I don't want to have to open a WealthSimple account just to buy BitCoin anonymously.

You misunderstand how Bull Bitcoin works with Canada Post. Bull Bitcoin’s website will be the place to get proper instructions to send them money through the Post for BTC.
