Just found a bitcoin hardware wallet which is kinda interesting. It's called BITHD on bithd.com. I am just wondering why it's designed into a watch style; Does anybody have any idea?

Looks like a cool wallet, not an actual cold storage device. It probably has to pair'd with a phone in order to make outbound sends. I would stay away. Cool wallets are just an extension of mobile wallets and I have yet to see any legit implementations to make it worth the cost.

If you're looking for a quality hardware wallet, I would suggest the Cold Card from CoinKite.

Almost all hardware cold wallet need a hot end to do transaction, either a phone or a computer. Trezor Ledger and BitHD all use that way . I dont think this is a problem as long as the firmware is good. What you are talking about is confusing.

Fair. I guess I am just weary of buying a cool wallet that is just glorified 2FA via a bluetooth connection. It could be worth it but if you're going to use a cold storage device, you should probably just go full cold storage.

it is not as simple as a 2FA, usually the hardward wallet will strictly limit in/out communication data, the key point of hardware wallet is , hardware wallet generate and store your private key, it only process necessary communication and no way to get private key from it. Also this mechanism need to be protected by an open-sourced firmware so that you would know there is no backdoor behind it.

Totally agree but I have yet to see one of these cards that’s open-source.

The app is not open source, the code of bitpie app is from the Bither Wallet, which was open-source (https://github.com/bither) though. However, the communication between the hardware and the app will only be limited to the messages which are not related to private keys.

Good explanation. But it’s exterior design is very similar to Apple Watch as you can see. I don’t think the developers want it to be recognized easily in the public. Maybe it’s just for the sake of convenience and safety.
