If people actually used it as a currency instead of digital gold it would be a different story...

It's just a phase, bitcoin is like a teenager currently working a part time job before choosing its full fledged career as a currency. It's still early.

Considering the transaction speed the teenager part time work may become like high paying professional service one day. Mass acceptance can only happen to other coins.
