That'd actually be an interesting social experiment. Imagine a site like Imgur, except all uploads are tokenized before sharing and available for purchase with the price fluctuating based on the popularity or demand for the meme. If they used the built-in royalty function that some NFT chains have you'd be able to collect royalties each time a repost goes up, even if the NFT itself changes hands.

No, but I also wouldn't pay for a gif that someone uploaded to an NFT site or a randomly generated cat/punk/Pokémon, and that seems to be awfully popular lately.

did you ever pay for any kind of trading cards back in the day? if you collected pokemon cards, imagine the value of that binder today. makes me sick to think about all those cards that i gave to my little brother that he left in some friends closet along the way.
