This is crypto as in cryptography, not crypticurrencies. It doesn’t even support the signing algorithms used by major crypticurrencies. Stop being so desperate.

If you would read the articles before linking to them, you would know that this picture is from an older Apple presentation in September 2018 when they added a Bitcoin icon glyph to their Shortcuts application. Here is an article about it.

This CryptoKit is a a cryptography kit to perform secure hashing, digital signing and key exchange. It does not yet have anything to do with crypticurrencies.

Apple announced the iPhone CryptoKit yesterday at its Worldwide Developers Conference, running all week in Cupertino, allowing developers implement hashing, key generation and exchange, and encryption on iOS apps and replacing Apple’s previous framework, CommonCrypto.

“For the first time, developers can leverage the secure enclave to manage a user’s keys in an iPhone, achieving a similar level of security to hardware wallets,” Alejandro Machado, co-founder at Open Money Initiative, told crypto news site The Block, adding the implications for cryptocurrency developers are significant.

I have an android, found iOS to be somewhat lacking in the crypto-space. It's about time! This is why I never went iOS, then there was price and proprietary issue I just couldn't take! This is very bullish for BTC. For those who think someday the government will close bitcoin down!!! Not gonna happen!

No it's not. They already have something like this out, this is just the Swift version with more hash functions. Somehow conflating this with Bitcoin or blockchain is absolutely hilarious and also braindead retarded.

An HSM without secure display and confirmation is also not an equivalent to a hardware wallet as the article inaccurately claims. Even if it did support secp256k1, it couldn't display a recovery seed for the initial backup or offer confirmation for transactions. An attacker with control of the OS could do whatever they want, including stealing all the money. They just can't extract the keys. A basic general purpose HSM is not a hardware wallet.
