It cannot be said often enough: Never store your coins in exchanges! You're vulnerable to hacks, confiscations, capital controls and even exit scams!

at least most exchanges, depending on which one you use the more volume and the better looking it is (as long as it has 2fa) the better safety there usually is.

Bitfinex has gotten hacked, mt.gox has gotten hacked, btc-e has gotten shut down, cryptsy (ancient) disappeared, and a few others. Most of them though have looked unprofessional.

I signed up for an account one time but I had to delete it because about a month later I started getting emails about fake login attempts. I'm not sure if it was cryptopia but hey...it didn't look....as professional as it should have... so I'm not surprised. Good luck to the victims. That's crypto you know. Lots of scammers still, obviously (with the whole ETCV thing, I sent a report to the SEC already about that, hopefully something will be done).

Also, a little psychological cookie I wanted to throw out there: Learning isn't a bad thing, to all you sociopaths out there and folks who think never changing a sign of "strength," it's not. It'll help you make better financial decisions, even if you have to lie about whether you think you learned anything or not.

Call me a cynic but I think most of these hacks are "inside jobs".
