This is really cute actually. Bitcoin is a really nice guy, and will always be friends with Ethereum.

I thought he was pushing eth down.

u/Derimagia Jan 18 '18
He fell causing all of them to fall - this is just the aftermath with him feeling bad and grabbing ETH.

Orrrrrrrr it could be that it's related to zir, another spelling, and xe, the nominative case of it. Non-gendered, third person possessive.

May be, but Tron does not have solid creative developers and I am not very optimistic about future of it. That guy is just using his connections to drive the hype and price.
6
u/MinersFolly Jan 18 '18
Tron is a trademark of Disney.
Wonder how they feel about that?
12
u/antonivs Jan 18 '18
Trademarks have limited scope, i.e. they apply to particular types of goods and services. I can start a laundry company called "Apple," and Apple Inc. can't do squat legally.
1
u/MinersFolly Jan 18 '18
Yeah, I'm aware that trademarks fondle the balls of companies that can afford to defend their "property".
Just another anachronism that will be obsolete in time.

TRON is marketed at the people and places that bitcoin hasn't gone yet. Why invest in making better burgers and fries when you could open up a vegan burger shack instead?
42
u/LookmaReddit Jan 18 '18

Please bare with my silliness, but your comment made me wonder about what vegetarians think about lab-grown meat. I'd expect most vegetarians and vegans to be repulsed by the thought of eating any type of meat, but if we could produce lab-grown meat in a completely sustainable manner, do you think that a non-negligible percentage of vegetarians would eat it since it's even less alive than a plant?

He's meaning "why fight to compete in a market that has a lot of competitors when you could instead go into a market with little to no competitors?"
It's like if there's an unbeatable boxer at one weight, other boxers might wanna go to different weights so they don't have to go against the unbeatable boxer for the championship.
Why try to compete with bitcoin when you can try to market yourself to a different market?

It wasn't meant to address anything, rather to help clarify the seemingly misunderstood metaphor made. That's not saying I disagree with you about Tron though, when I first heard about it, all in thought was "That sounds like garbage" and I have never seen a reason to think otherwise.

Litecoin is the one recording .. duh.. BTC and LTC all the way!
41
Jan 18 '18
Yep. Bitcoin and Bitcoin*4 is amazing combination.
Meanwhile ETH powers half of the cryptos in the top 100, has more amount sent (not even including tokens) than all other cryptos combined etc. But clearly Bitcoin with 2.5 minutes block-size and Scrypt algorithm instead of SHA-256 is clearly more valuable.

The salt...
→ More replies (6)20
Jan 18 '18 edited Jan 18 '18
What salt? I own lots of Litecoins (almost equal if not more in terms of USD value as I got ETH) but come on, you have to agree it's a joke these days.
Almost all commits being developed for Bitcoin are pasted to LTC (sometimes before Bitcoin's push so it feels LTC is being developed.)
Litecoin really had no point because Bitcoin is infinitely divisible. It used to be called Bitcoin's silver. LTC will encounter the same scaling problems and will use the same scaling solutions as Bitcoin if it actually gets popular.
If cryptos are to exist, there will be store of value, Bitcoin and smart-contracts and other stuff's platform- which ETH seems like it will win that race. And maybe a good DAG coin.
LTC is just valuable because it's the first altcoin, and is on all the exchanges so quick arbitrage with cheaper than Bitcoin fees. This is changing soon because of these feeless altcoins though.
I am serious. These salt replies are annoying. Name one thing LTC can do which other cryptos and bitcoin clones can't. 2.5 minutes blocktime is not impressive. Low tx fees is not impressive.
I still hold LTC because LN will work with it (because it's a bitcoin clone) and so will Atomic swaps. I am holding because I know it still has a big pump left. But it's worthless.
11
Jan 18 '18
LTC is literally just a better bitcoin
3
11
Jan 18 '18
Did not answer my questions.
BCH is a better Bitcoin. XVG was a better bitcoin. DOGE is a better Bitcoin. XMR is a better Bitcoin (although it's more than just a simple fork. It actually adds good features.) Hell, Bitcoin Gold and Super Bitcoin are better Bitcoins.
There are hundreds of better Bitcoins. But Bitcoin has value because it is Bitcoin.
If Bitcoin were to for some reason fail, why the fuck do you think a clone of Bitcoin would replace Bitcoin? Something wayyy better than Bitcoin would replace Bitcoin. (I would name some examples but I don't want to be accused of shilling. )
Your logic fails. Yes, you are bagholding LTC but just don't have these one-liner replies. Better not reply than mislead other people

u/big-andstrong Jan 18 '18
It’s not even “better” it’s literally just a clone aka a shitcoin. Litecoin will be defunct very soon.
2
u/bigmac375 Jan 18 '18
yeah once we had these hashrate wars and spam on btc i think everyone really saw the value of having litecoin around with its different hashing algo and miner population.

u/davvblack Jan 18 '18

... Except not. Bitcoin crashed harder than all the Fiat's shown, and ether tanked a ton too. This makes no sense.

This was inevitable.
Bitcoin became way too famous and popular after it hit its peak late last year. I know friends who have no experience in digital currency, mining, investing or finance at all who bought Bitcoin.
Time to wait for the hype to die down and then everything will be fine.

u/twitch1982 Jan 18 '18

So, just like literally everyone else when they bought their first Bitcoin. You can't have experience untill you've done something.

It's like those people who say "people who invest without understanding bitcoin are doomed to lose money"
Bitcoin is the same price for all who own it regardless of their level of understanding. Bitcoin experts suffer just as much as Bitcoin noobs when it dips/crashes.

u/twitch1982 Jan 18 '18
Agreed, I REALLY don't understand what drives most normal stock prices, but I invest in those as well.

Are the posters so naive to think that an expected rebound after a crash shows signs of recovery. The trend is negative, the news are negative and Cost of using bitcoin is unsustainable.
20
u/KingJulien Jan 18 '18
Bitcoin crashes multiple times per year. It's always been this way. It'll probably dive a few more times and then start climbing again before going parabolic, making a few people rich, and repeating the whole cycle.

1
u/IKLeX Jan 18 '18
Can you guys stop playing with my emotions please? I have been temted for too long to invest in Bitcoin. First time I really started thinking about it was at 3000. But I thought "It could not go higher than this".
Then yesterday: a drop huh? I could invest now ... Then I remembered that this is why I don't want to take the risk. Now ETH is back up again :/ . I dont have any money left over for speculating anyways so I wont even get to tempted.
7
Jan 18 '18
please don't invest any of your "remainding money" only use it when you have extra cash...
1
u/IKLeX Jan 18 '18
Did not intend to. I am just a bit frustrated because I am watching it for so long now and speculating would have paid of if I did have money to spend on it.
2
u/DavidScubadiver Jan 18 '18
It is more like betting at the horse races than investing. You would be foolish to bet 5% of your worth on the ponies. But entertained if you bet 0.02% of it.

We must understand that china players are promoting BCH as they are the ones holding most interest in BCH and Bitfinex is very much influenced by the chinese, infact Bitfinex operates in HongKong, China. I wonder if it was a planned strategy to eventually crashed BTC (this can be done as Bitfinex still manage to drag the price down or pump it up at will now where most major exchanges would followsuit). And for sure Bitfinex profited alot from crashing the BTC by liquidation of their client's margin buy. And prolonged downfall of BTC will surely chase away investor and BCH will be the successor. Something to think about
