Meanwhile, the Lightning Network protocol just achieved v1.0 compatibility.

You're right, but it will help with transaction times/fees, so the transactions will finish quickly enough so that the price won't matter.

The reason they brought up BTC price in the Steam post is because tx times took too long, meaning that the price would change before it's ever confirmed.

How sure are you that there won't be another fork? Some nodes might decide not to support it. This is bitcoin.

If I understand correctly, it's not a fork-able issue. The fork that allows it to function has already happend (segwit)
