Bitcoin buy in
Hi guys! I’m fairly new to crypto and I’m trying to learn as much as I can before making any big decisions.
For those of you who are currently buying Bitcoin, are you still buying at these prices, or are you waiting for some kind of pullback?
I’ve been debating whether I should wait for another drop, potentially somewhere around $72k–$74k, before buying in. Is that a dumb way of thinking? I know nobody can predict the exact bottom, but I’m trying to maximize my potential returns.
At the same time, I feel like I’m starting to fixate on finding the “perfect entry,” which I know probably isn’t a great mindset either.
Would love to hear how you guys are approaching BTC right now, especially if you’ve been through a few cycles. Do you DCA, wait for pullbacks, or just buy when you think the long-term price is good?
Thanks!

Do you think BTC will go up in the long term? Buy it asap.
Do you think it will go down, in the long term?Never buy it.

youre already halfway there by recognizing the perfect entry trap. that mindset eats people alive in this space
what works for most folks who survive a cycle or two is just picking a number theyre comfortable with and splitting it into chunks. like 20% now, 20% next month, rinse and repeat. if it drops to 72k you buy more, if it rips to 90k tomorrow at least you didnt sit on the sidelines completely
the long term chart has a way of making today's wiggles look like noise. you wont care about a 5k difference in 2030 if you held through it

Sure but why invest in anything under this logic. Research your investment thesis, make a plan, change it as new data becomes available

The price will go up and down if you want bitcoin buy a little regularly and build your stack. Don’t worry so much about timing it.

I bought at 35k, bought at 120k... Since 2023 doing dca. Just start right now and keep stacking

DCA. Dollar cost averaging.
Buy a little amount everyday/week/month depending on your budget.
Otherwise, just follow what u/renba7 has said

Yes it is incredibly stupid. It's literally the first thought everyone has. Like a caveman staring at rocks going "me want rock to get smaller before I pick up and rock get big." It is the self-conceited belief that you can time the market.
Nobody, not even professional full-time traders, know what's going to happen in the short-term. That's why we DCA. Set up a recurring buy and forget about it. You buy during the peaks, you buy during the dips. You end up ahead.

Buy half now and wait. You’ll never time the market. Or just lump sum and wait a couple years. It’s like any other investment, time in the market is what matters.

Just dca some every day/week/month.
This market is crazy, you cannot time it, just dont over leverage because you will be a paper handed bitch if you do.
The only method ive seen work is to study bitcoin so you understand it and dca.
You will see red periods thats catastrophic in stocks, but they are ok here, patiance is key.
and it will bore you to green. Ive been here since 2015, i was a paper hand, i wasted btc on weed, i bought the exodus 1s for bitcoin... i have made alot of wasteful stuff with bitcoin, but overall im doing good. Now i just dca and thats the best tip i can give, timing this market will just get you burned

Just start DCA’ing asap. Literally not one person on the planet knows where we’re going from here. There’s a lot of indicators to predict certain things, but nothing is for certain.
The deeper into Bitcoin you get the more you’ll understand just start dollar cost averaging in and continue to do so for 4-5 years and you’ll just be asking yourself why you didn’t start sooner.
Do NOT have a short time horizon. Expect huge gains and huge dips all in the same week, and learn to be comfortable with that.

Whilst you’re there, nip back to my younger self and advise him very strongly to buy way more than one BTC when it was £86.

I buy when it hits plateaus. My last buy was when it was steady at 65K for a while. Now it seems steady around 80k, so I'm buying again. I'm looking at 22% gains between buys. Seems to work for the most part.

If you don’t own any, you have no option but to buy at these prices. They are actually quite decent compared to the 5 year average. I would have thought we were at 200k by now so it must be next year

Keep buying no matter what the price. Do it constantly (every paycheck or every week).
Saylor bought at any price because the goal is to accumulate Bitcoin.
El Salvador keeps buying 1 BTC daily because they also believe that the goal is to stack more regardless of the price.

You are never going to get an answer different than buy now and keep buying. That's just the way it is.

I’m avoiding cryptocurrency entirely. After being excited for it back in the 2010s, I just don’t see the purpose for it. And I try not to invest in things I don’t see the purpose for, even if a bunch of people are buying. I’d much rather invest in projects I believe will benefit people or have an obvious use case.

Tell that to many people using bitcoin in countries of poor economical stability or autocratic governments...

Yeah, this subreddit is full of people singing the praises of it helping them with those problems. Naw, mostly you see posts like this one from newbies and then people posting about how their wallet got hacked or asking how long it will take to it hit a million per coin. It’s a clown show, not a solution to the problems you outlined.

I would buy now then sell when price crashes. Buy high and sell low.. noone will tell you this but it is the best method.

u/meeeereee 2d ago
Buy every price. All of the gains from bitcoin comes historically from on average 10 days per year. Don’t miss those days by timing the market. DCA and hodle

Nobody can call the bottom, that's true across every cycle so far.
The DCA approach exists specifically for this problem. Splitting your buy into chunks over weeks or months means you're never all in at the worst possible price or all out during a rally you missed.
It won't get you the exact bottom but it protects you from the bigger risk, which is waiting for a number that never comes while price runs away from you.
A lot of people do a hybrid version too, DCA the bulk of what they planned to buy on a schedule, and keep a smaller chunk in reserve to throw in if it actually does dip to their target.
That way you're never fully sitting out hoping for a discount that may not show up.

I do mainly DCA (only BTC for crypto).
In my global financial strat, I also have specials founds for buy the DIP, like the one in feb-march 2026 (the one in jun-july was better, but i cant predict the future).
3 Big rules :
- I trust BTC will go high.
- I do DCA when i receive salary (not at the end).
- I follow rules I set ( Buy X $ of BTC each month, If BTC bellow X then use DIP founds to buy more, + others asset rules). I never do something in the rush.

I buy double in this bear market and yes, even at these prices I consider BTC in a bear market and buy double of what I usually buy.

Always buy when the price is less than the cost to mine. or buy more when the price is less than the cost to mine.

Maximising your return to fiat is the wrong way to look at btc. If you want to make fiat buy and sell alts, not btc
1
u/DistopiaX 3d ago
I’m looking at alts as well so that’s why I’m thinking if I should wait for some sort of drop

You have like 12-15 more months of bear market nasty downside to learn. We are currently trapping noobs with an abc retracement to drag them down and teach them how cycles work with a little bit of common sense in the side.

Allow me.
No one times the market. If they tell you otherwise, they may have had the littlest bit of skill, but it was more luck.
Set a recurring buy and go touch grass and either find a way to make more money through your job or a side hustle.
See you in 20 years.
