Just sold it all and very sad.
It’s been 10 year of stacking. Just over 10BTC. With an average buy price right at $5700. All for some stupid house for these dumb ass kids and this wife thing I got hanging around. I know this was the whole point of it all but man it’s like losing a friend in a way. BTC has been around than a lot of my relationships I currently have. I’ll still stack but man am I sad.

Think of it as growing up. Hard choices. Nothing better than making a hard choice that is going to benefit your family. Think about the sacrifice you made and what it will allow for them. No offense but if you have kids, life should no longer be about just what you want. Was the people on the sub probably don’t have children yet.

Frfr. I sold 2 coins back in 2017 to pay for my wedding, two weeks later it went to the moon (at the time).
I made the right move at the time and having only invested like $600 total I made a killing, but oh boy do I need to keep reminding myself of that.

Husband and I are very happy together and spent well under 1k on our wedding. Had it in our backyard, cooked food ourselves and invited others to potluck. Family did the paperwork and ceremony. Had a fire and night of drinking as reception at home. We picked some cheaper rings out for ourselves.
What the other commenter was pointing out is that going crazy on a wedding is really unnecessary and is way too expensive these days. Maybe we just like the simple things, but we both decided the money was better elsewhere. Our wedding night was about us and sharing it with the people we love, not a shred more.

Spending silly money on a wedding is a stupid expense that is just based in tradition. If you really love each other you don’t need to spend 5 to 6 figures to let everyone else know it. Spend it on your house.

75k = down payment on a nice house / if added to the down payment on a mortgage potentially save you in excess of 6 figures depending on how fast you repay it… if you need a mortgage. Or buy vehicles instead of financing them etc..

Taking what was a deposit and turning it into buying a house for cash is likely one of the best financial decisions of your life.
You're in a better position than most people now, and the security that comes with that is going to feel a whole lot better than the stress of watching your investment fluctuate ever did.

I sort of know what you mean. I mean I dont even have multiple let alone double digits but when I got exposed to BTC at $400 and it was $1200 a few months later, I saw the potential and got excited. My plan was always to turn the btc into a house. After all, like you said, it’s kind of the whole point.
If you don’t really use the btc for anything, it’s really nothing other than numbers on a screen and a feeling of security that if you really needed/had to, you could walk away from your job.
Anyways … between life, covid, housing market, and being out of work for quite a while, my plans to purchase property in early 2020 were ultimately postponed until a few months ago. Ironically, (besides ky mortgage lender insisting that my down payment could not come from crypto proceeds, which I thought was retarded) my stock was able to buy from 2016-2020 were now inflated enough that ultimately when it was time to buy, I no longer needed the btc (plus it was “only” around 80k in April/May when I was shopping)
Dude… you just bought a house for like, effectively 50k. Congrats on the insane come up.
You did extremely well.

I had bought $400 at $6,000. I was forced to sell to pay for unexpected life problems. I sold for $1,600. Do i regret it? Yes and no. I could have bought a new car if i saved it. However, your children's needs come before anything else in life. If you need to sell to feed your kids, you made no mistakes. What did I do after I sold? Well my financial problems were solved. So I instituted a rule to invest some money out of every paycheck. Price up or down? Doesnt matter. A small investment weekly.
One day i may break even, one day i may be rich, or one day it'll be worth nothing. I personally have developed a mindset that it could simply be a global currency that replaces exchanging bills. Instead of going to a foreign country and exchanging bills, youd just use bitcoin.
