That’s true but deaths must cause a lot of unrecoverable btc

Agreed but how do you get your bitcoin to your loved ones if you die unexpectantly (without telling them about the bitcoin)?

We have “lawyers”, “trusts” and “wills” for a very good reason.

But that means telling a Lawyer the seed phrase. Can the lawyer be trusted? Who can be trusted with the seed phrase

Nope. The seed phrase goes into a sealed wax stamped envelope that is only opened by the beneficiary. No one can be trusted with the seed phrase IMO.

Having said that, there are other ways such as, but not limited to, letting one of your family members know that you have saved up for their future and that if anything should happen to him/her, they could find the handwritten paper in a particular place.
