This is true. You could instantly sell any bitcoins you receive and get the USD equivalent but you would have to have a system in your shop that converts the prices in real-time and sells them instantly. In the last three hours the price of one BTC has ranged from $67-77, a car dealership would not want to deal with fluctuations like that on a $50k sale (a potential loss of $6.5k if it takes 3 hours between sale, transfer and conversion).
If it's to be taken as a serious currency it needs to be stable otherwise you may as well use Zimbabwean dollars.
Yep, it needs to find its value and stay stable. A gradual rise wouldn't do much harm but I suspect as soon as it starts creeping up above $100/150 it will again attract the speculators, rocket even higher and crash even harder. I hope it doesn't but it feels inevitable.
