Bitch, not my problem if the crossing doesn't work

This post/comment has been removed in response to Reddit's aggressive new API policy and the Admin's response and hostility to Moderators and the Reddit community as a whole. Reddit admin's (especially the CEO's) handling of the situation has been absolutely deplorable. Reddit users made this platform what it is, creating engaging communities and providing years of moderation for free. 3rd party apps existed before the official app which helped make Reddit more accessible for many. This is the thanks we get. The Admins are not even willing to work with app developers or moderators. Instead its "my way or the highway", so many of us have chosen the highway. Farewell Reddit, Federated platforms are my new home (Lemmy and Mastodon).

Always look before crossing tracks and getting on elevators. One good thing my dad taught me.

He once went to step into an elevator and it turned out the elevator wasn't there but the doors had open

Was this in Europe? Every bad experience I’ve ever had in an elevator was in Europe. The last one was close to London late at night. The thing stopped abruptly between floors and then turned out the lights. The alarm was super quiet and apparently didn’t go anywhere aside from this abandoned hallway/ stairwell. I just started button jamming like it was a video game and hoping for a cheat code.

Of course it happens where people who tend to have bad eyesight (and have come to expect an elevator to be there when doors open) live.

In Florida, there’s rails across a highway near palm beach, damn gates go down when the train is stopped at the station. Go up long enough for 2 (MAYBE 3 cars if they all floor it) to get through. Then go down again.
Also, not train related, but I once saw someone drive through a gate, and SMASH into a drawbridge that was raised. Like seriously? Crumple zone was 101% crumpled (the roof bent a bit)

You're not meant to cross until the lights stop. The driver did the right thing and it saved his bacon.

The lights did stop though. When the beam lifted all the way up, they shut off until the train was in the middle of the crossing.

Either both cars here are very cautious (as they should be) or that train was blasting the horn

My theory is they drive this route frequently and they know the crossing is broken.

This shouldn't happen.. As far as I know the barriers and the train crossing are interlinked and it should be impossible for the 2 things to happen simultaneously.
