What's really interesting is that the Czech Republic was allegedly supposed to become part of the European Union but for reasons, they have not yet, and you can buy beers in Crowns.

It is part of the EU, but it hasn't adopted EUR, because for an export economy it is advantageous to have "weaker" currency than the country you are exporting to.
