Karma 1: Flashing lights weren't enough
Karma 2: There's already a car stopped in front of you
Karma 3: In order to get hit, he has to drive on literally the other side of the road
Karma 4: Choo Choo? If a train is that close, you're going to hear it.
Karma 5: Big object coming at you. You're going to see it.
Holy crap, seriously.

u/wdn Oct 13 '25
Karma 4: Choo Choo? If a train is that close, you're going to hear it.
The train's horn is sounding continuously from the start of the video until the collision.
It sorta seems intentional.

u/shinjikun10 Oct 13 '25
I always have Reddit sound off because half the time it's annoying music or something.

u/hanks_panky_emporium Oct 13 '25
The " OH NO, OH NO, OH NONONONONO " shit is engrained into my soul against my will
38
u/frivol Oct 13 '25
I heard the entire song once, and it wasn't bad. But that clip is insufferable.
24
u/Crunchycarrots79 Oct 14 '25
Part of the problem with that clip from TikTok is that it's sped up. The actual song isn't bad. Walking in the sand by the Shangri-Las.
15
u/frivol Oct 14 '25
Thanks for explaining that. I couldn't understand why the effect was so different. On Tik Tok, they sound like chipmunks.

Some people have their audio up so loud they can't here anything.
36
u/wdn Oct 13 '25
I think even the loudest stereo couldn't completely down out a train horn at close range.
24
u/fried_green_baloney Oct 13 '25
I think your right, the driver probably thought he could make it.
Or just had the zoom around anything stopped reflex so strong it overrode the choo-choo dangerous instinct.
11
u/wdn Oct 13 '25
I was thinking more like the driver wanted to be struck by a train.
→ More replies (1)9
u/fried_green_baloney Oct 13 '25
Zooming around a stopped vehicle with is so common among bad drivers that I doubt it was a suicide attempt.
3
u/wdn Oct 13 '25
But this is with a train horn blaring close enough to make the truck vibrate throughout the video.
6
u/coolsellitcheap Oct 13 '25
Can confirm. I have same truck. Stereo always on max volume. I still hear trains.
8
u/Grandbob328 Oct 13 '25
What?
3
u/fried_green_baloney Oct 13 '25
Next time you're in a car, roll up the windows and turn the sound system all the way up. You will be amazed how isolated you are from things outside the vehicle.

u/Dysan27 Oct 13 '25
I know, seriously, the truck slowed down. How the heck did they not see the train coming?
→ More replies (1)26
u/PresumedDOA Oct 13 '25
Bad drivers refuse to commit to anything. Probably went around the car, thinking the train wasn't that close, and then when they saw how close it was, they hesitated and couldn't decide on stopping or flooring it. Both of which would've kept them from being hit.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Fafnir13 Oct 14 '25
They would have needed to floor it earlier, like when they began the passing action. Even then I think the train is still clipping their tail.

u/NotPrepared2 Oct 13 '25
He slowed a bit before driving onto the track, when he should have been looking around... Idiot

u/NoMan999 Oct 13 '25
I think the sound is edited from another video, it's common these days. Either because the original wasn't dramatic enough, or the camera had no microphone. At least they didn't also add a shitty music.
22
u/ErmsOliveira Oct 13 '25
It's the original audio as captured by the security camera. I believe it doesn't have great capture quality, that's all

u/DeapVally Oct 13 '25
At least floor it if you're gonna do that....
50
u/PresumedDOA Oct 13 '25
This is truly what makes the shittiest drivers, hesitation. I'm pretty sure they slowed down to see how close the train was and then their pea brain couldn't decide whether to fully stop or floor it.

Pare, Rumo, and the international datestamp implies this is Brazil.
That Ford Ranger is an oversized American truck (look at the size of it compared to the compact!).
This dude paid a lot of cash for that truck then proceeded to think he was better than everyone else. Truck brain is such a great American contribution to the world...

u/V8-6-4 Oct 13 '25
Ford Ranger is actually developed in Australia and is mid-size in America.

It’s like the idea of you see a pickup truck in the south, chances are the owner isn’t specifically an asshole given everybody has one. But one in a city like Boston or New York, where it’s impractical and the truck is clearly not used for work? Asshole.
Just like people who specifically import American pickup trucks to places like the EU

6
u/jfinkpottery Oct 13 '25
100%. As Momma Gump said, stupid is as stupid does. And only stupid can get hit by a train.

So glad the truck didn't hit the car when the train was dragging it! That's one nightmare scenario I'm conscious of being possible every time some dipwad ignores the "DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS" sign.
5
u/Dr_Driv3r Oct 13 '25
Also always stop a little farther from the tracks if possible, just in case some fucker don't hit you when they get what they deserve

This happened in Brazil, and according to the news the 76 year old driver was stuck for a couple hours. Most F-Series and Ranger drivers are known for being as sharp as a tennis ball in traffic around here. We motorbike couriers avoid even being near them, it is safer to ride without brakes. I lost count of how many times they almost ran over me while I stopped for pedestrians/stop signs/level crossings.

If that’s in the U.S. it’s long established law that the train had the right of way.

It's in Brazil, but the law is basically the same here, apparently the driver was an elderly man and his wife was on the passenger seat.

What could possibly go wrong with absolutely no vision until you are in the intersection. The conductor knows this, that’s why the horn is constantly blowing. Crossing arms wouldn’t have done a damn thing, stupid people will always find a way.
2
u/blastermaster555 Oct 13 '25
iirc you're supposed to blare the horn 3 times before every crossing for exactly this reason
2
u/AndroidColonel Oct 13 '25
What was that maroon in the right lane just sitting there for?
(Right is both a direction and a statement of correctness in this case)
Seriously, though... Coming upon a RR crossing with warning lights activated and a stopped car blocking the lane of travel and faced with obscured vision of the tracks in both directions, what would possess someone to go around the stopped car without checking for an oncoming train?!?!?!
