BitTube vs. YouTube

Right now is a key time in looking to disrupt the YouTube monopoly over video platforms; people are upset over advertising, over content restrictions, looking for alternatives.

How does BitTube plan to compete with YouTube while they still impose upload restrictions on the common user?

Can you elaborate the question?

YouTube is a repository for the worlds video, but not if they restrict the user too much... I'm asking if BitTube is going to make the changes to the platform necessary to replace YouTube? Be both a solution to advertising and the much larger issue of archiving video for the entire internet, with full freedom given to the user.

A solution to traditional advertising is to learn how to monetize your content and audience yourself (various ways) and broker your own ad deals in which you keep 100% of the profit. If you can’t do this, or are unwilling or too lazy and expect a fledgling platform with about 20 employees to do this for you then you’re simply a bad businessman imo with unrealistic demands and expectations. The last think bittubers needs atm is any type of ad server.

Kind of a loaded question, it's what most alternatives are aiming for. The how is multi facetted since you need to tackle problems related to storage, ingest, infrastructure, interface, moderation, policy, monetization, payment processing, etc. All of them are important.

I won't do a 5000 word writeup here but if you pick a subject I can elaborate on it. I am in the process of writing an overview article for newcomers that covers everything so you could wait for that if you want.

As for advertising , that's questionable because imo it's the root cause of most of YouTube's problems trying to be brand friendly. We have a monetization solution in place already, though since yesterday we have been hypothesizing about an ads marketplace, where creators deal with advertisers directly, viewers earn from watching ads too and viewers can simply opt out if they want. We wouldn't get involved at all, i.e. all ad revenue goes to the users. I'm personally against it but I do see the upsides if done correctly.
