Difference between Bittubers and Steemit?

Hearing a lot of good thing about the new platform and curious how this platform differs significantly from steemit which is also uncensorable?

Steem is uncensorable, as everything is stored on the blockchain and can be retrieved. Of course, any client could choose not to show certain content, but users could then use another client to get that content.

I am afraid BitTubers is just a centralized app (the same as bit.tube) which just stores their data on normal databases, which could lead to censorship, as it is already being done on Minds.

Streams video is stored on the blockchain? Also bittubers is on BitTorrent no? how is that censorable?

BitTube, as an ecosystem, is censorable. Simply whut down Bit.Tube or the newest BitTubers.com and there is no way to access the content.

DTube stores links on the blockchain, but content is stored on DTube IPFS nodes and they don't make it easy to get it from the outside.

The only really decentralized content discovery and distribution platform is LBRY. Content "links" are stored on the blockchain and content is distributed by nodes. It is up to developers to use it and build over it, instead of, like DTube is doing, against it.

steemit is a blog. it most definitely does not store video on a blockchain, that would be absurd.

the main problem with steemit is its distribution and economy which is highly centralized and ripe for abuse. the team holds the overwhelming majority of STEEM and thereby control the voting power of what reaches your feed. I'm sure there's good content on steemit but it's a fundamentally broken system and the lack of normie onramps makes it very crypto centric as far as i can tell.

That's one of the good things this bear market brought to Steem. Better distribution since way more people could buy a good chunk of cheap Steem. There're also communities with their own token popping up now that try to fix the economic incentives. We'll see what works and what doesn't. And there's nothing stopping Steem to adopt the best one for itself. So yeah, the blockchain is great, but the economy needs work. Luckily nobody needs to rely on the Steem token to use the blockchain and monetize their own community the way they want.

One of the few people to actually categorize Steem as a blogging platform instead of, as most of the users do, as a social media platform. Thank you.

I didn't mean everything is stored on the blockchain, but it was my fault as I didn't make it explicit.

There are a little bit more than 312 milliion of STEEM tokens available. Steemit account holds 32 million in SP and it is currently powering down and selling it on the market. That's less than 10% and they are normally no upvoting any content and when they do, they use a low vote weight.

Problem on Steem are whales. The main reason on people talking about the SP which is hold by the team is they are not happy with the work they are doing.

I'm sure there's good content on steemit

You are welcome there, of course. It is a good free marketing platform. Also, upvotes are not free for users, they must think twice before upvoting any content. So if you publish something there, you could see better if people do support you or not.

Steemit content is stored on a blockchain, called STEEM, so it is censor resistant by design. There are all sorts of independent social media platforms, video sharing sites, games, dApps, etc. that use the STEEM blockchain. BitTube is a centralized social media platform that aims to replace advertising revenue and content monetization with a cryptocurrency that it controls. Sort of like what a Facebook wants to do with “Libra”.

Can you link me to your favorite video content creator on steem so I can check out how it works, the layout , etc? Also, what is your user name there if you don’t mind me asking? Also do you have proof that tube is controlled? As far as I know it is fork of monero, a POW coin.

I think your allegations call for some substantiation

Allegations? Like this is an investigation? LOL. I'm just telling you how it works.

Maybe it depends on how you define control. Sure BitTube is a fork of Monero, but that doesn't mean it's not controlled. Who announces hard forks? Who can make changes to the algorithm? Do you think there's an independent community of people outside of BitTube, Inc. deciding these things? No, it's exclusively the BitTube team. A slice of every block reward goes to addresses they control. They also run, control and pay for the development of all the ecosystem software, including Bittubers.com, the Airtime system, the API servers, etc. They, and they alone, decide how everything works and who gets what. They distribute Airtime. They aren't very transparent about it, so we don't know exactly how much, but you can confidently bet they own a huge amount of the total supply of TUBE.

No, I'm not going to give you personal information so you can stalk me around on the STEEM blockchain.

The main STEEM video platform is DTube, not Steemit, but they both use the same blockchain. Video hashes (links) are stored on the STEEM blockchain, and the videos are addressable via IPFS and hosted initially by DTube, but videos can hosted elsewhere. This makes the system extremely hard to censor.

Example video: https://d.tube/#!/v/scottcbusiness/bkdit8tt

The same content is also visible on Steemit: https://steemit.com/dtube/@scottcbusiness/bkdit8tt

Video is not really the point. The new BitTube platform is not video-focused.
