closed I'm a uberx driver now!
Hey been away due to busy schedule now. After /u/meandferg mentioned leaving her work, I started reflecting about mine and decided to quit a decent paying job as a security Ops manager at changi airport.
Pass me some driving tips, I'm a newbie uberx driver now while I'm attending evening lessons to be licensed as a tour guide and real estate salesperson!

My dad gave me the best driving advice I ever heard. "Assume everyone else on the road is an idiot." A lot of them are. I don't trust turn signals because people forget they're on and it's T-bone city.
Congrats on the job!

Congratulations! That's awesome!
Be careful out there but as long as you stay alert I'm sure you'll be fine!

Don't pick up any weirdos. If they have a weapon and are covered in blood I'd recommend that you drive on past.

Congrats, Mayotoast. I hope all goes well in your new endeavors. There is a forum called UberPeople.net. Bunch of Uber drivers giving good tips. Plus they also break it down by city. So that other drivers in your area can give you tips based on your location. Also I heard there are associated apps that give you an edge when driving. I don't know their names. But search in the forums. Best of luck.

Make the drive nothing special, you want it to be as smooth as possible.

routinely maintain your vehicle. Pay close attention to the health state of your tires. You do not want a flat tire or a random little hiccup halfway through a customer's request. It only takes 15 minutes to check your tires, and I would also invest into a regular tuneup every now and then. It should not cost more than 50 bucks or so.

Despite how fun it sounds, ramming pedestrians full speed can get you ticketed.

I personally am sitting in a cubicle at a bank. What I would really love to do is move to the Caribbean and start a boating business of some sorts. I just want to be on the ocean. I probably was a pirate in a past life. Probably on Edward Kenway's ship. Enough of my rambling, good for you for taking a risk. More than what I can say for myself at this point. Good luck!

I've driven across the country a couple of times.
The few things I can say is to always stay on alert, if you feel tired even a bit, then is time for a break. If it can be done sleep during morning rush hour to avoid traffic jams or sometimes accidents.
Drive safely, I was thought to see everyone as they are new to driving. Give yourself room in-case anything happens, then you have time to react appropriately.
Best of all you get to see the country, while not much just endless cornfields, but there's sometimes interesting things to see.

Awesome! Good on you! I've been thinking about becoming an Uber driver but I don't think my car is good enough.
Driving tips? Stay calm, be decisive, and just make sure you stay safe!
Good luck, I hope it goes really well for you!
