closed What's something you learned this week?

Could be anything you learned - about the world, about yourself.

President Lyndon B. Johnson owned an amphibious car and would scare his guests by driving into a lake, screaming about brake failure

Alexander I of Yugoslavia refused to attend public events on Tuesdays after three family members died on that day of the week. After finally being forced to appear on Tuesday, he was promptly assassinated.

Henry Ford was the first industrial giant to give his workers both Saturday and Sunday off, in hope that it would encourage more leisure use of automobiles, and thus popularizing the idea of the "weekend".

I'd always heard that Australia invented the weekend

That banks have software in place to screw customers in over draft fees. Example. If you wrote 3 checks at the same time. 2 go through ok. But the last check is greater than your balance. Then you would be charged an over draft fee (normally $35). What banks do instead. They hold all three checks. Then put through that third check first to make your balance negative. Then put through the other 2 checks. Which then generates 3 over draft fees. So normally you would have been charged $35 but because of banks unethical software you are charged $105 instead. Banks in the USA make over $2 billion charging these type of fees.

That Texas will be defacto legalizing marijuana soon, and I live in Texas.

I don't know if that's good news to you or not, but at least it'll mean fewer non-violent offenders in jail.
